yes, and like the title suggests...a couple of days ago , i was using my modelling knife, when scraping off the edges of some guardsmen. A piece of the damn metal broke off and shot into my eye, i know its no use ranting here, but honestly speaking, i dont feel like continuing warhammer...since im already half-blind. So please guys, tell me why i should continue if i do, after the paintoff.

Because you joined the paintoff Or said in other words. Why should you stop after finishing the paintoff and all the minis?

Becuase if you didnt, you will be deemed Heretical.
There are 2 extreme crimes in life. one is being Heretical, the other is turning your back on the Emepror, For the first, death is the only punishment, for the second, There is no punishment deemed worththy for it, but one will be discovered.

You've lost an eye. What kind of guardsman are you? it's just a flesh wound, you've still got one good eye.
Seriously I hope your eye's OK. If you don't feel like continuing then don't, t's only a hobby and you should only do it if you want to. (just don't let the commissar know I said that)

sorry to hear about your eye stabby! why I like 40k: 1. it's a hobby that has a social side so I get to spend time with people in real life (vs. sitting in a dark room talking with people I'll never meet in real life over the internet which can get depressing). 2. working on my army produces something real and tangible. all the work I put in on my warcraft character was nothing more than bits and bytes on some server somewhere that meant nothing. every time someone comes over to my house, they see my game room and my massive guard army all arrayed across the table in it's (mostly) painted glory and suddenly I'm a craftsman and artist in their eyes as well. the paintingwork I get done on my minis can't easily be taken away (poor blackdeath and his fire!!!) and once done is done and mine to keep and enjoy and benefit from. when I paint a model it's a permanent upgrade to my army, and using my army makes for a fun time. 3. 40k players are the hobby world elite. we spend big money to get our armies and alot of time painting them as a representation of our skill at the artistic talents. no two armies are alike. when you create an army, you create a unique entity in the worldwide scene of 40k. the longer you work on it, the more paint you put on it, the more websites you end up posting pics of your army on, the more noteriety it gets. people start saying 'I've seen this army before on the web, wow!' welcome to the elite of 40k - an already elite field. very few people embrace the craft of the tabletop hobby these days compared to those who just go buy dawn of war and play it alone in some dark room in a completely antisocial manner for a few weeks then move on to something else. 4. wargames are fun - all the tactics and strategy; I've been playing guard since the new cadians came out in 3rd edition and I'm still working on my armies strategies!!! sometimes I take a break, sometimes I'm a die hard on painting, but I always come back to my guard and 40k - it's just a beautiful thing. 5. now you can brag about your model trying to shoot you to death. war stories man, war stories! anyhow yeah. how many games of 40k have you played? it's best to find a couple/few opponents you really enjoy battling vs. and just making those your regular crew. don't worry about 'testing yourself' vs the biggest baddest army out there and getting slaughtered into complete demoralization over and over (I've tried this - it leads to 'taking breaks from the battlefield hehe) - but yeah, there's a few people I really enjoy playing against, so I just make a point to invite them over more often so that my guard get a good match up and we can both enjoy the fight. you (and I) have a lifetime to learn to master tabletop warfare tactics, so there's no need for a bloody crash course that risks morale extinction for the bonus of a couple hard fought learning lessons. playing with unpainted minis is ok, and I recommend just playing with unpainted stuff if painting seems to be unsavory. when you start developing an identity for a unit, or you want to develop its feel, then you will likely bust out the paintbrushes and paints and put a bit of paint on them. establishing the basic painted model is really the act of love in the hobby. once you've contributed that act of love, you kinda have something on which you can fiddle to add that individualism. I'll go in and add a couple sand bags and an entrenching tool, a lasrifle leaning against said sandbag, a blue stripe on the shoulder armor to represent that the platoon is made up of soldiers conscripted from zedaxus VIII (instead of cadian born troops like the rest of the company) - a campaign world my army fought on for a long long time.. stuff like that starts occuring where your army starts growing a richer and richer feel for it. anyhow yeah, that's all painting - it's something which can be enjoyed just the same as the gaming aspect of things. then when someone looks at your army you can feel even more pride and your fluff and heritage for the army, which is a unique presence in the world of 40k gets even stronger, which is a matter of pride I dunno, call us all geeks, but I don't think we're trying to claim we're anything different than that hehe hope you stick with it, there's alot of rewarding sides to the hobby as time goes by - it just gets better and better. oh, and I like to see my guns 'come to life' when I'm excited about them...when I'm thinking about my infantry, seeing them go from white primer to fully painted beautiful models is really exciting! it's like I'm giving birth to the troopers as I work - kinda like putting them thru training; when they're done then they've been trained up and are 'marshalled' and ready for deployment hehe.

stabby dude most bummed out to here about your eye, there not alot else to say really apart from you have my sympathy either keep playing or stop, but i can tell you from a guy who stopped for ten years its like smoking the feeling of wanting to do it never seems to go away totally, as for any other young gamers take notice of what happened to stabby and when modelling get some safety glasses, man i really feel sympathy for you no one deserves a injury from a game, get well soon

Yeah, We are all hoping it works for you.
I would sue GW For not allowing you to make your 4+ Armour Save due to the Carapace you was wearing.

No one tell fishki wat that means!!!! HAHA Its a bit harsh not telling him though, especially if he wants to do some fancy conversions. WYSIWYG is the bane of my army. And to Stabwiskers, I`m so sorry for your injury and hope for the best. I`ve often had blades snap like.

I might be half-blind, but im training my body now, real-time, working out at the Gyms on alternate days, going for Kyu-do classes, reading up on politics, downloading schematics and studying and training. I wont let an eye stop me. And for those of you who dont know what Kyu-do is, its traditional archery, and for me....only one eye .
