just talked to a 'hobby specialist' at GW (looks like they did away with rules boyz) and he cleared something up for me which you all might really like to know about.
ever had a mech eldar army tank shock you 36" across your table edge with 6 skimmers every turn and force like every unit in your army to take 6 leadership tests? I've got your remedy right here! *waves core rulebook* evidently, according to GW, every time an eldar skimmer tank shocks a squad in cover, it enters difficult terrain. when ANY vehicle enters difficult terrain, it MUST make a dangerous terrain test. the skimmer rule just allows skimmers to avoid entering difficult or impassible terrain, it does not make it immune to the effects of said terrain.
good night eldar tank shock army!

Hi, I'm Mech Tau, and while I can't tank-shock 36", I can take Sensor Spines to move THROUGH Difficult Terrain without a test. 60 points of Fire Warriors, 90 points of Devilfish. 150 points for a tank-shocking skimmer. But the pointy-eared gits do loose out.

I think it is the same for every vehicle trying to tank shock a unit in cover...The vehicle must pass a difficult/impassible terrain test.
Tell me Major Whitman, are you on the verge of being an heretic and traitor by playing Tau??beware of Holy Inquisition! His will may be done!
So Turtle, you can deal more easely with mech eldars as you 've had some trouble with them recently...

Nay, good sir. I am a recovering Tau addict turned Guard officer. I retired my beloved Voidstalker Cadre to the dusty confines of my closet to fight in the trenches for the good of Mankind. Plus, I was running out of FoC slots to fill on my Tau:

It's a codex-based force, following a theme generally refered to as "Mech Tau" Front Row: Elites: 2x Crisis Battlesuit Teams, 1x Stealth Suit Team HQ: Commander Shadowsun & Shas'el 2nd 'Row': 3x Firewarrior teams in Devilfish Infantry Fighting Vehicles 3rd Row: Pathfinder Team in Devilfish IFV, 2x 5-ship Piranha Assault Skimmer squadrons Back Row: 2x Hammerhead Gunships, 1x Skyray MLGMS Gunship
Essentially it's like a Mechanized Guard list. The infantry's all in APCs, but it's not a varient list of pure tanks. I actually wanted to finish it by getting a squadron of Tetras (Pathfinder light skimmers) and 2 more Devilfish so I could have a full FoC, but that's $160 I just don't have at the moment...

in the future please try not to ressurect a thread that's gone completely off topic unless you want to bring it back on topic just a humble thought for the day.
