Since Photobucket has had a tantrum and all the pics in my old thread are unavailable, I thought I would start a new thread. This thread is for my Armageddon Steel Legion army. It's quite large and I have been collecting it for almost 15 years! The theme is the army is on Armageddon during the Third War and, as such, I do have quite a few other elements from imperial forces that took part in the conflict. I'll start off by showing pics of the shelves in my cabinet. If you want to see closer or clearer pics of anything let me know. I will probably pull a few models out at some point for some close ups and more detailed shots but for now I'll just showcase the army as a whole. It's always growing though and I have many unfinished and unbuilt projects. My infantry shelf. In the old language I have 2 platoons, each with a platoon commander, command squad and 4 infantry squads, and a company commander with command squad and advisors. I really need to repaint my Yarrick. I wasn't happy with the original paint job I did on him so I stripped him and still haven't gotten around to repainting him. All of the squads have their own chimera with the two on the right side needing their details finished.    My motor pool. Most are painted but some need finishing. I have also converted up some Steel Legion crew for my normal basilisk and my wyvern.  Some vendettas and a Valkyrie along with some half finished Mordians and other bits and bobs.  My super heavy shelf and some Death Company. I now have a very fancy looking baneblade seeing as there are no rules for the Fortress of Arrogance now.  Probably the most impressive shelf. Forgeworld flyers, sentinels and my reaver- Mortis Vindictum.  |

That's an impressive collection you have there, I love to see apocalypse sized armies. Have you calculated how many points you have in total?

Thanks. I love seeing apocalypse sized armies on display too. Especially IG ones.
I haven't calculated the points since the new codex has been released. It's on my to do list.

I loved the thread on your reaver Titan, I learn't a lot from it when painting my Scout Titan. Ah the Super Heavy flying Destroyer *Dreaming* Maybe for my Birthday. It's such a beast, was it a challenge to build and did you have any issue's as all? I don't think you have enough Chimera's  |

It's such a beast, was it a challenge to build and did you have any issue's as all? I don't think you have enough Chimera's Awesome! I'm glad you appreciated and took something from my reaver thread. Unfortunately I burnt out a little bit doing my reaver and, although it is painted enough for the tabletop, there is still a lot of work to do. I'm starting to organise my next big apocalypse game so the motivation is growing. The marauder destroyer was very simple to assemble. I've had it for years and it's still one of my favourite models. The only thing to be mindful of is the tail sections are very flimsy and regularly get knocked off. As for the chimeras, doesn't everyone have 12? |

It's been 15 years of Steel Legion with interruptions of space marines, Blood Angels, SoB, Skitarri etc. I always come back to the Steel Legion though. I also have an armageddon pattern medusa but it's sitting unassembled in my future projects drawer. |

I understand, I had the burn out when making the base for my Titan, I will go back to it at somepoint but I've got a third Praetor Assault Launcher to do first. Oh... I only have three and one Taurox haha I have some catching up to do. Have you got anything planned to add next? |

I've got that Armageddon pattern medusa to start and finish painting the Steel Legion crew on my wyvern. I've also started painting a leman russ annihilator for my new Krieg tank regiment. I have a mecharius for that too. I'll post some pics when I get a bit more done. |

Be carefull you don't throw your back out moving them all  Some detailed shots would be nice though: it'll make quite the sight. How are you converting crewman for your artillery? That can't be an easy task. |

That can't be an easy task. It's probably not as tricky as you are imagining. It's all about picking the right models for the job. It'll be easier to explain with photos. I'll take a few showing what I've done when I get the chance. |

I love that you've chosen the war on Armageddon and ran with it!
Do you have a suitably impressive Ork force to play against?
Or was it Chaos during the third war?

As for the chimeras, doesn't everyone have 12? I think I have 9... 6 in working order and at least 3 as ruined hulks, and its the hulks which see more action! As for titan motivation - get going with it! It is a god-machine and needs your faithful ointments sacrificed to it regularly! |
