Here's my current Guard project. Work on it (and therefore updates) won't be very frequent I'm afraid but I'd like to share what I have and see what everyone thinks. With that said; pictures! Sergeants of the 92nd Highlanders with bolters. 1st squad with plasma gunner and chimera. Salamnder conversion (right) with Chimera for comparison Tanks of the 7th Dniepr. Lt (ex-gangleader with blade of conquest) of the 92nd and command squad (Medic, standard, vox, chainsword vet) with Commisar and bodyguard (slabshield, armour, deatmask), because sometimes you need to hit things with sticks. Apologies for the lousy camera phone photos.

Cool stuff, how big a force are you building? Good question. Totalling out everything I want to take gives me somewhere in the region of 3250 points, but that seems a really awkward gaming size. I don't want to cut anything, so maybe 3500 as it gives options to include some naval air support. On the other hand I don't know if 3500 is actually a better gaming size so may stay at 3250.

It'll depend a bit on your situation and the people you play with.
The gaming group I'm in has always had one 'game night' that is organized every week or every other week. Most games are played there and are between 1000 & 1750 points, simply because it's a good size battle to start and finish in an evening. During 6th edition 'mini-apocalypse' battles where pretty popular with us; they usually ranged between 3000 & 5000 points with a couple super-heavies; and that's a game you can comfortably play in a day. We would start around 10:00, break for lunch around 13:00, and be home (sometimes a little late) for dinner.
If your planning on playing pick-up games at a local store.. anything over 2000 is going to be hard to plan, but most stores/communities play with 'set' amount of points. If you or one of your friends has a table in the garage/attic/etc. then 3250 or 3500 is a pretty good points value to play on a Saturday.

Because I am incapable of sticking with a project have a concept mini for a trooper of the 3rd Heronian Rangers. Not sure if the lasgun will be standard issue or represent a grenade launcher yet. And a cyclops!

Yes I can see all the images (including the ones I couldn't earlier) now.
The ranger looks cool, especially the gun.
As for the guns; You could probably use them as scions. The guns look unique enough to use as a hot-shot count as. And the model has a pretty 'specialist'-look.
The cyclops looks nice to: is the body from anvil industries? I got a couple of those a while back with the idea of doing something similar.

The cyclops looks pretty cool, reminds me of Wall-E.
