Thanks Walk! Go for it, they’re great models (though lets be honest everything GW has touched lately has been gold)
MD, the Carapace took the most time! Really pleased you liked it.
Yeah, definitely doing sub assemblies from now on.
Next up will be something for the Ultramarines!

Well they've had a lemon or two since the trygon was released.. But that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a good looking bug; what are you going to add next? And how is your son feeling about you ignoring his marines?

Thanks mate!
Lol! He’s cool with it! Though I am working on the Ultramarines atm!
Next for the Nids will be either some Hive Guard or a Tyrannofex. Depends on how an eBay auction goes.

Great project; those bugs look really amazing. The Trygon looks like a cobra in those colours.
I might have a few marine crests; I got some Sternie kits and only ever used one on a Deathwatch vet. Admittedly I've only found one so far but my marine bits box is just evil.

Cheers Cheminhaler! It does look like a Cobra ready to strike. I wanted to use a natural palette with the Nids so they’d contrast with the Ultramarines!
No worries on the crests, I bought a load from Anvil Industry. Thanks for the offer though.

Well, I've finished the first HQ for my boy's Ultramarines! I went straight for the Chapter Master, Marneus Calgar. He's a bit rough round the edges (bit like me!) but I'm pleased with him. Marneus Calgar Marneus CalgarMarneus Calgar

I've never understood the pose of that model.. but the paintjob looks great; he'll look right at home leading some marines.

Really cool base, a great touch with the Nid Head too, will you do a role reversal on the nid bases?
What sort of voodoo magic do you use to paint your marines, the edge highlights are done well, especially on the power fists.

Very crisp painting on Calgar. The base is not 'over the top' like you see on some of the newer models (*cough* Assassins/ Shrike *cough*)

Man that robe came out top notch! I guess the rest of the model is ok too haha, joking obviously. Great work mate! Keep it up

Thanks very much lads!
Nutty, it is a funny pose, looks like he’s shooting into the air! I would have preferred for him to be shooting both bolters at once.
MD, can’t claim kudos for the base (it came with the kit!) but yeah, the Nids will be returning the favour! No joojoo for the line highlights it’s just a couple of lines progressively getting lighter. Glad you liked it, I wasn’t sure if I’d over done it.
Cheminhaler, I know what you mean, some of the newer kits have really over the top bases.
Walk, Lmfao! Yeah I was pleased with the robe!
I’m currently working on Calgar’s bodyguard, I’ll update soon!

The Swarm of Hive Fleet Ariagnee continues to grow and evolve! I've finished my second HQ so my army is now playable, although I only have 750pts! I chose the Swarmlord as he looks cool (my kids think that wings were cooler than swords but I overruled them!) A lovely model to work on and build. Next Tyrant will have wings. Here's the Swarmlord: Tyranid SwarmlordTyranid Swarmlord Tyranid Swarmlord Tyranid Swarmlord Tyranid Swarmlord Next up will be something Astartes related (though the colour of the armour has changed....)

Just watch out for jedi appearing out of no where to exchange pleasantries before killing him following a high speed chase.

That's a nice swarmlord, you've absolutly nailed the Aroumour plating. I don't know a lot about the big bugs but I know this model, is one of those that just won't die, 'Why won't you die?' I think I've just been really unlucky.
It's not going to be Blue? Hmm... Potentical Heresy.

The Swarmlord looks like a really imposing HQ. The painting is great and good posing. All those boneswords, it looks like a real close combat beast.

Cheers nutty! Walk, yeah he does have a bit of the General Grievous about him. Thanks Chem, on paper he looks like a total nightmare in melee but we shall see. MD, thanks mate! Here's hoping this model can perform as well as your experience suggests!! No heresy just a shift in blue tone. A friend was selling an old mini marine Space Wolves army. So I snapped it up for my boy! Got over 1200pts!! for a good price. Also with the exception of the Thunder Wolf Cavalry everything was still on sprues. I've done a test model so I thought I'd post it up: Space Wolf Space Wolf Space Wolf Space Wolf Now, I'm going to use this project to practice human faces. I've always struggled with them so I feel that practice is the only way to improve. Thanks for looking, all advice would be welcome.

Looking a bit ruff...
Ok jokes aside, it actually looks like a damn solid scheme and that face is quite good, you even managed teeth and eyes looking natural which I shudder to even attempt

Well I was wrong haha, I thought you were going Chaos.
You've struck gold, sounds like a good deal, although I bet you have one hell of a back log to work through? That's a great effort on the face and the eyes, you've brought him to life.
Look forward to seeing a full squad.

Lol! Thanks Walk, my painting style isn’t the tidiest so that’s why I’m hoping to work on faces.
Cheers MD! Yeah, I did a full list of everything with wargear etc, it came in at 1502pts! Not bad for £100!!!
Yep I have a massive backlog now (haven’t had that problem for years) that said I’ll still be adding Tyranids here and there. I’ve got some catching up to do!
Thanks all, I’m working on the Thunder Wolf Cavalry now, will update when they’re done.

That sounds like a solid deal for an army, especially with most of it on sprues. I'm looking forward to seeing more painted puppies.

Cheers Walk!
They do have a lot of character. Though I’m going to save up the extra bits for when I start the Primaris.
Next up will be something for the Nids.
