So, having acquired a love of 6mm wargaming, a 3D printer, and a pair of GW's lovely new Adeptus Titanicus Warhounds....well, it was fairly inevitable that I'd fall into playing Jervis Johnson's greatest work: Epic Armageddon! Not sure what exactly I'm going to build, just printing off cool 6mm vehicles and seeing what works. Leman Russ tank company, fresh off the printer The first 1500pts of an army (minus seven or so infantry stands! ) The Warhound Renown

Cool! Those look pretty good for 3d prints: normally the layers are really obvious. I backed a kickstarter for a small 3d printer the other week, so I'm extra interested in this thread now.

That's amazing RT. Any plans for a Capitol Imperialis?
Also : does it take a lot of resin clean-up to get them to that stage once they're out of the printer?

cheminhaler: No plans for a Leviathan, they're not really my style. Too static. I've got a couple of AT Warhounds to provide mobile dakka. nutty: If you're looking to print minis, I must recommend the Elegoo Mars. Cheap/small FDM printers aren't much good for detailwork.

Cool; I'll look into that later on.
I mainly got the one I did to experiment with 3d design and printing as that's the direction my career seems to be taking me. So I figured I'd play around with it to familiarize myself with it all.
That won't mean I'm not going to try and print some hobby related stuff, but it isn't a priority right now.

Does the scale fit with the old 'Space Marine' game? I still have about 20 of the green plastic Land Raiders and a few metal vehicles. For some reason those chimeras look bigger than my old LRs.

Aye, it's the same scale - notionally 6mm. I printed the Chimmies so there might be scaling issues, though some of the older Epic/Space Marine kits had larger stuff downscaled to 3mm or 2mm (1:600/1:900) so they fit better on the field. Titans, superheavies and flyers in particular. Pop a picture of your LR next to a 2p piece and we can see?

Rolling Thunder I ended up backing out of that kickstarter and I'll be ordering one of elagoo mars printers come payday. The name makes me think 'Electric Boogaloo', which is definitely a selling point

It looks like I may well wind up doing a Leviathan Command vehicle after all, as I'm likely to use the Cadians as both Steel Legion, Minervan Tank Regiment and Cadians: the Cadians use the Leviathen as a mobile command vehicle and their transports of choice are Stormlords.

It was £220ish, now down to £190 on Amazon. The figures aren't printed: they're the Microworld Wasteland Wasteland Warriors and Wasteland Gangers from Vanguard Miniatures and some from Bradley Miniatures.

Great fun!
I’ve always liked the scale of Epic but have never given it a go.
Were your models printed? They look great.

Everything is printed bar the Knight, the Warhound and some of the Guard infantry (Vanguard metals are so much easier and you can free up space on the print bed for more tanks).

Recently actually discovering (knew about it but never ordered) etsy, I have been flirting with the idea of epic. How is the game play? Disclaimer: only referring to Epic:Armageddon It's fantastic. You have alternating activations, so massive alpha strikes are mitigated. You have to roll for activation, so plans aren't completely reliable. Your basic formations have a lot more flexibility in terms of mobility versus firepower, with options to move up to three times, move and fire, hold and sustain fire, etc Suppression mechanics are a thing with blast markers. Stuff like rough riders and sentinels are a lot more useful in their specialist roles. Close combat is a lot less about SPESS MEHREN SMASH and a lot more about close support and positioning. Yoloing cc units into enemies isn't a fantastic idea if there's support forces nearby The games basic scenario is fantastically balanced, with multiple routes to victory
