I never know how much to give or hold back on these things.
I guess Imperial Guard were always on my warhammer cards. Both granparents served, one in the artillery, another was a tanker, uncle was in the engineers. I myself although regrettably couldnt
serve fully due to circumstances was in the cadet force in my youth and did basic training with the South Staffordshire. So non-super power armoured test tube soldiers seems right up my street.
Started playing Guard in 2nd edition, already had a main army so couple of squads and 2 tanks that was about it. Then Big Toof River happened and managed to get my hands on 4 of the boxes
when they were released and my Praetorian life began. These did well for a while until painting and playing died off maybe 4th edition quitingt the hobby in pursuit of other interests.
Like an absolute moron I sold off all my proud boys in red.
Fast forward until a few years ago I got an urge to get back into painting this time in a different direction to the XXIV. Forgeworld Krieg sang to me with there first war inspired aesthetics so I bagged a sizeable force probably around 2.5 - 3k point which I'm shameful to say only 1 squad of infantry, 1 death rider squad and 2 tanks have been painted thus far. Which is fine as I haven't played a single game for well at least 15 years? maybe longer.
Anyway, I think forums are far better than this facebook nonsense everyone seems to love, so hopefully I can invite you to join me at somepoint in a slow journey as I attempt to paint more than 1 model a year.

Hello and welcome to the IGMB. Things have been a little slow here lately, but I'd agree it's a lot better than facebook. It's a great little community filled with generally slow painters (so you can feel right at home) and interesting traditions.
That being said; take this ministorum blessed waterpik and go bansih that Great Unclean one in the distance.

Welcome zazel!!!
I’m absolutely besotted with my Krieg and had a similar journey to yourself.
The Great War aesthetic is very inspiring.
Good luck with the painting and please show us some pics of your work!

Thank you!
I'll try and get something sorted to start contributing some time over the Christmas break. Need to dive into some boxes and take a roll call of what I still have.
