How many folks are entering in the 'ard Boyz tournament?
I'm actually entering at the local shop.
For anyone who doesn't know what it is. A brief run down... a 2500 point tournament that is geared towards wins. No sportsmanship or painting scores. Just bring it on.
This weekend (Sept 22, 07) will be round one. Round 2 is on Oct 13th, and round 3 will be in Baltimore on Nov 2.
Not sure if this is a world wide competition or just an American thing, but it sure as heck sounds like loads of fun. Even f I do not advance to round 2 I am looking forward to this.
My list is completed, final adjustments were made last night and all I have to do is print the lists off.
I'll give a brief battle report when it is all over.

Wow.. I would love to be able to see what kind of cheesed out armies of darkness come forth from a tournament that rewards solely winning.. oh wait.. thats pretty much every tourment in Turkey atm..
Seriously though.. if anyone has the chance to lay down what was used as the first place winner.. I would be very interested to see what it took to come out on top for this no holds barred tournament of the cheese...
And good luck to everyone from our forums..

I'm doing a totally troop heavy army - not to the point of 160 marines in 2500pts (though that'd be awesome) but I'm definately focusing on troops with good gear - that's pretty much my hand at this card game as it were.

Theey splitted the Grand Tournaments in two seperate torunements. First the 'ard Boyz Tournament and the Gentlemen's Cup.
The 'ard Boyz are solely on winning. While in the Gentlemen's Cup its all about fairplay, painting, and army list composition.

Will post pics. Do not expect to see a lot of painted models, but you will definitely see pink.
Edited: 'ard boyz, is over in Michigan. At the local level My first game was against an Eldar Meq list. We had a draw. My second game was against the Demon hunters Grey knights. I was victorious with a massacre. My final battle was against a Mechanized guard list. Crushng victory. Total points for the tournament including bous points was 53. This placed me in second place for the local store and I will be advancing to regionals on the 13th of Oct.
Most memorable moment of the game was the look on the mechanized guard face when I waltzed up to a chimera and popped it with an inferno pistol.
Victory points for that that game was 1803 for me and he took out only 473.5 points of my army.

geez turtle that must have been one pimped up model. If you were using victory points one model difference would have put you at a draw (unless, you were at the edge of draw and a slight victory and the point cost was there).
On the bright side. those guys with like 45 points after the second were going to have to fight each other. Which then leave one of the guys with like 33 to sneak in and place.

Well tomorrow is the semi-finals. I have finalized my list and am going to be doing the best i can to see if can go on to the finals. Looking forward to the carnage and see what it is that I can do against some of the heaviest players out there. Apparently, there are some people who are looking forward to really testing out the Amazonian LXIX and seeing what it is that they can do.
yep, it is going to be a very interesting game(s) on saturday.
I'll post my list that I used after the game with the results.
Edit:
Well didn't do as well as I had in the locals, but if I were to give an excuse it would have to be that I had a woman on my mind.
I placed 12th out of 16 So I wasn't the worst player there.
First game was against a Tau Mech force. tough list. I know the mistake I made was not in concentrating firepower. I started out well, but as soon as I started scattering my firepower it went downhill quickly. the easy bake ovens did their job, but I ended up loosing badly.
Second mission while technically was a draw ended up being a major defeat due to the table quarters being captured. This was against the Eldar Valkyrie force. I kept waiting to hear the cry of the Valkyrie as his tanks came in. this one I ended up getting screwed on with the deployment. The mission called for all units to be placed on the board and get this the board was the deployment zone. After setting up according to how my opponent initially set up. as soon as everything was placed Eldrad called for a redeployment. Left my two immolators on the far side of the board. The mission also called for preliminary casualties. Which SUCKS. However, Fourth turn I did manage to take out Eldrad with a Lascannon shot from my sentinel. Managed to maneuver so that he was the only legal target I had.
As I said this was technically a draw the table quarters killed me.
th third mission was against the Space Marines. This was again a true draw. There were only 150 points different. This mission also was pretty strange. All infantry units were deployed first turn. No vehicles at all until reserves were brought in. The space marine player pointed to my Sentinel and told me I couldn't bring it in until I showed him the special scout rule. got to Love that Scout rule.
The Allied Sister's really came through on that game. I was peppering his termiesas they foot slogged it across the board. by the time they had entered my Deployment zone out of 6 he only had three left. On Turn Three My battle sister (17 sisters strong). Stepped up onto a small rise and opened up. Didn't help that I had my Dominion squad at their rear with four Melta's. All those AP1 shots was just brutal. Even a couple flashlights managed to bring one of them down as well. On turn 4 his Chaplin on a bike finally made it to the table. He made a nice run of 24 inches. On turn 5 I asaulted him with the Dominions. Keeping him tied up in a combat and unable to enter the deployment zone. The ladies even managed to win first round of combat and tied the second. 3rd Squad of the regular guards women managed to get into assault range and kept his bike squad tied up and by end game I had only lost two of their numbers to the squad. Got tolove Line of sight with the basilisk as well.
I was really happy to see that at this round of combat the Mechanized guard won first place. Tau second and finally new codex Chaos third.
