Hey there, I want to implement some stormtroopers and a chimera in my army. So I'm looking for some advice for using them. I was thinking of getting a full squad of 10 with 2 flamers in the chimera so that they can rush up the battlefield and jump out and flame and rapid fire the crap out of them.
I would give the chimera a multilaser, hull heavy bolter, heavy stubber.
Any advice? ;D
Thanks!

it seems like it would work preaty well until you kill whatever is directly infront of you and they send some high powered stuff at you. hmm mabye put something with melta in the word in there and a power sword would be a nice touch. Other than that all im gonna say is this would rape hoards and probably eliet armies. With marines it could be effective or it could make them mad all depends on the armor save. I think that it looks preaty good just add a melta bomb in or something and a power sword to take care of all that anoying +3,+2 save stuff and some bigger badies.
Cheers Dethklok ;D

yer it looks good, maybe give the chimera smoke launchers to make sure it actually gets to the other side of the board, personally i have always prefered deep striking storm troopers with plasma or meltas, they can realy kisk ass. but yer against anything with a 5+ save the flamers would realy kick ass, although it could be reasoned that the flamers where wasting the stormtroopers improves balistic skill, horses for courses i guess
peace out

I tried doing a double plasma grenadier squad and a flamer/GL grenadier squad and it always seemed like the flamer/GL squad would just sit around since they couldn't do anything vs vehicles really - they'd sit in their chimera as it took pot shots for the whole battle practically. finally I changed the two squads to pg/gl and pg/f so that both the squads would be capable of engaging in combat more often - this seems to be the way to go in my opinion. the versatility is a nice thing and can help with bounding overwatch or situations where one squad is positioned in a more favorable position to advance without drawing as much fire - both squads being capable of either supporting fire or assaulting fire is a nice thing.
hope it helps!

Personnaly I find the heavy stubbers a little too expensive. I like them, and the extra dice are always nice, but compared to other weapons, they just seem too expensive. 2 flamers per squad can do wonders, but people will generally remove casualties so the second flamer gets less hits. Like TB said, maybe have 1 flamer and 1 other weapon, melta as they'll be at ´close range may be a good option, or plasma guns, they never go out of fasion .

I think heavy stubbers on the chimerae could be a good thing if you're using them in a defensive fashion so they can perform a fire support role while the stormtroopers wait for deployment. 9 dice from one light tank is an awesome salvo of fire! if you're planning on taking ground with your stormtroopers in chimerae then probably no heavy stubber since the chimera is more disposable and less likely to get much shooting in.

Flamers auto hit so they are a waste on the stormtroopers. use meltaguns and plasmaguns. Use Flamers on a regular squad because of the lower BS. Plasmaguns are nice on the Stormtroopers because of the 4+ Save. That is just my personal references for useing Storm troopers.

It all depends on how you're planning to use them : tank hunters, head hunters, infantry hunters. IMO chimairas for storm troopers are only for grenadiers, because if you don't give them a chimaira, they're a big waste of points since they can't infiltrate or deep strike.
The chimaira I'm adding for them is going to have a heavy flamer and a heavy bolter, for the range, and the nice template. You can either use the tank just as a transport and firebase, or as strategy cover. If you were to place the tank so that it blocks LoS to the troops from other angles (if used with other terrain also) and get it as close to the enemy unit as possible, then the flamer can do wonders, and the team with a melta or 2 plasmas is sure to make any power armored genetically modified freak cringe!
But like I said, it's all depending on what you want them to do. I personally don't use flamers because if they don't do the job of breaking or killing off enough enemy units...Then you're in HtH, and that's not a pretty sight.
