I figured out the least expensive army to play with in the apocalypse.
100 Orbital strikes. Not a single model has to be purchased, and I can sit back and enjoy the carnage. Sweet deal if oyu ask me.

knight. That all depends on who I play. A one up game of pure fun versus a serious game is two different things. The only army that this particular army would be of no use against is an identical army.
I know a lot of folks who are only going to get one game of the pull all the cheese out you can and field the swiss, chedder, provolone, Colby, Brie, and the rest of the Kraft world eldar that you can think of. These are the same folks who will be running some serious games as well.
My friends and I have played several games in the past of 3K plus as an average army list to begin with. Apocalypse is just a set of rules to speed those games up if we want to do that.

twerd, lol
I can see now that the first couple months with apocalypse we will see such power gaming, but in all honesty it is the serious gamer in all of us that will bring this about.
With the loss of the force organization it promotes two separate ways and styles of gaming. the power gaming and those that are serious.
If there are those who are on the board who remember the early days of bring what you got first and second editions will know that you can still have an enjoyable game. I do believe that it is the gamer in us that will hold the restraint and put together a semblance of a real army after quickly growing board of the fantasy of fielding 10 Vindicare Assassin, etc...
I see a growing number of folks who view the Apocalypse with trepidation until the time when they can find within the community people who are willing to use the rules with a full force org for the first 3K and the suspension of the organization chart after that point to balance the armies out that one would be facing. Considering that the Apoc is just a rules supplement there is nothing that says you can not follow this. The only guidelines it gives are that you and your opponent agree to the terms before hand. These after all will not be games one off games or even spur of the moment pick up games.

Well I wanna run 20 LR's....................and 3 BB's Ok so, considering that the apocalypse is objective based. What are you going to use to hold the objective? See with the Orbital bombardment all I would be able to do is settle for a draw. The downfall of my idea. Again, great plan, but all in all my idea of using the first 3K points as force org to form a decent battle force filing in the extra points outside of the force org will bring forth a more balanced army list to the table.

IG armour with Tyranids = Lots of firepower and lots of CC nasties.
Or how about an army made up entirly of Chaos Obliterators.

Do you really think Chaos won't start fielding Baneblades as well?! So whatever the Imperium will be able to field in Apoc the Chaos will do it as well..

3000 points worth of plasma gun and melta gun carrying Vetrens with deepstrike and infiltrate abilities backed up by 4-6 basilisks.. Do not need anything more than that aside from a random commander + engineers for the Basilisks.. Mmmm might have to field that and see how it works out then Gris

i can feel the power in that one gris
But hey guys check dis one out. 2000 points of normal guardsmen and 3000 points worth of marauder bombers and thunderbolts.... Thats showing the imperial aeronautica!
"Eagle 6, fire mission on grid referance 0-3 Tango, engagement at low altitude, fire for effect!"
"copy that..... Eagle 6 are inbound"
*marauder squadrons arrive off table, opening up their bomb bays ready for a bombing run on a massive ork army, thunderbolts move in providing close air - ground support with the infantry as they head to their objectives*
Sigh, what a sight that would be

Yes there is, hellhounds can be used as a last ditch effort AT tank...tactics man, tactics...besides, have their commander ride in fron in a large, badass hellhammer.
