If you take Commissar Yarrick are you then allowed to buy and place another Commissar with your first Platoon JO Squad?
Trying to think of a new army list and was considering using Yarrick (or at least a conversion of Yarrick

yarricks a special charecter so counts as a hq choice i think he's a independant charecter with no retuinae so he he's free to join any squad he likes, i haven't my codex with me, but you can still have a second hq choice command squad with a commisar in it, though yarrick and gaunt are commisars they come off your hq choice, not your advisors selection i think.

Ok let me be a bit more specific...
Commissar Yarrick is first HQ choice. Second HQ choice is a SOB Cannoness
JO for platoons work off the HQ (without actually being an HQ choice)
Rules state that advisor's are given to HQ first and then down the line. IF Yarrick is the HQ can you still take other Commissar's in the army.

Normally you should be able to take other commissars since they're only given to "Command Squads". So since Yarrick is no command squad they just start with the first commissar in a platoon HQ...

Well, went to the local GW store, asked the red shirts and a black shirt.
Consensus is...
Since Commissar Yarrick Does not conform to the advisers special rule you have to take him as a HQ. You are then allowed to take the other Commissars as adviser's as long as you follow the rules of the adviser. So, This means the first Commissar must be attached to Yarrick and then any additional commissars as given to the other listings and down the line.
Which, in theory would give you 6 commissars on the field if Yarrick and a full adviser staff of Commissar's are taken.

6 Commies eh? Well that just answered another question I have been pondering for a while, does Yarrick count as one of the 5 commissars you can field, I guess not.

no he doesn't. He is an HQ and not subject to the adviser rules. Power fists, carapace, and refract shields all around boys.

This is why you give them refractor shields, and powerfists. not to mention they are cool just to have around.

Waste of points but it is appocolypse. but a commisar kitted out is gotta be like 80 points for each squad. May as well go mechanised instead it costs less. However that many powerfists and bolt pistols not to mention those carried by officers is enough to add an edge to your army. 1 platoonlike that could have 8 powerfists spread out among 68 models. They'd never die and continue to smash heavy infantry and light tanks. Not to mention all the plasma weapons you already have and youd have a hard core army. Without giving plasma pistols youd have 10 plasma guns and with pistols youd have 24 plasma weapons among 68 models almost half with plasma. Youd kill MEQs really easily. Not to mention the 6 auto cannons youd also take. Now if you have 5 of this unit goodbye SM company and CSM warband and Necrons and SOB and god near everyone else.

Created my own "counts as" model that works with my army of all females. Can't very well have a guy ruin it for the girls now can I?
