well, I had to post a thread about Apocolypse being out. I got my baneblade, but I told my mom she could give it to me for xmas so I don't get to actually GET it till the end of the year!!! agh the misery haha. oh well, I like to work on the small stuff before I go adding the big stuff anyway. when I started guard, I only worked on infantry, then finally when that was done, I added the tanks - now I still am working on the tanks and this'll just give me a chance to finish up building/painting all my vehicles and learn to utilize them to their max potential before adding the baneblade to the field.
I haven't seen the commissars or ogryn yet, has anyone picked up any of these guys?

Nope haven't got any of the new stuff yet. Right now Project Hellhammer got delayed for 3 Rhinos and a 2nd Land Raider to get my Chaos Army on 3000 points.

hehe right on. I'm probably going to do a hellhammer too, but that 10" pizza plate is so massive, it's insane. having that would just be awesome, so I might stick with the baneblade for it. the codex is $50usd so that kinda hurts the pocket, but at least it's hardback and THICK. it feels like a core rulebook at about 2/3 thickness!

Yeah. The 10" plate is tempting, but the 7" ignoring cover saves is great as well...

I've done mine so that I can swap barrels. So for games on large open plains it's a Bane blade but battles fought were there is lots of cover then it's a hell hammer.
The guy at my local games stores says this stuff is flying off the shelves so someone at GW's going to get a big bonus for Christmas.

I picked up the baneblade kit and made it into the hellammer. The first game was this past sunday. I used it to hold the Objective bridge. Came in right handy. As did my Armorcast stormsword. Used it as a baneblade for the game. Worked out rather well. Today one of the redshirts used the hellhammer and two baneblades for his army against three other armies. I didn't get to watch the game too long because I had to go back into work.
Been building terrain as well for the store. The objective bridge I built is large enough to allow the baneblade to cross it. The other terrain I assisted in building is a tank factory, and a large volcano laser defense station (m volcano has a fricken lazer beam), today I built a Ork Tellyporta for the store. Instead of using the Apocalypse rules we are going to make our own chart up basing it off the armageddon tellyporta boyz. Once they teleport they are so disoriented they face according to a scatter die and open up on what ever is in that direction and closest. There will also be the option to teleport to other area stores for the intramural games (ok, a squad of ten orks just teleported into grid t-5 roll a scatter and tell us what they hit. Ted team has control of them.).

I got my commissar! The bolt pistol weilding guy, hes so cool! Hes got a little whip in his other hand, so cool, such an awesome model...but not as cadaverous as I would like him to be...a commissar should be an aristocratic, sadistic, cruel, fanatic, cadaver in a trench coat wielding a bolt pistol. But what are ya gonna do eh?

Build your own?
I feel kind a left out today, some o' my friends have gone down to GW, I was meant to go but I'm not feeling too great. I'll have to wait before I can get my Banblade.
*looks dissapointed, a tear trickles down left cheek*

Apocalypse seems to be a success for GW....On the French website, they say that they need a further 5 days to treat all the orders!! We may see Apocalypse tournaments very soon, hehe!!

Thankyou Majorjav! Yeah, Apocalypse seems to be very popular, I don't know how long it's gonna last. I can't wait for my first game! Be prepared to get really torqued off in the first turn. Once the amount of devastation sinks in and you realize it is how te game is played you will calm down and start to enjoy yourself. It is an amazing how much damage you and the opponent are able to lay down not to mention the new special rules that are out there for this version of the game. I've talked to others and it seems that the first turn destruction is what does it for most people. It i sort of disconcerting at first, but trust me it gets to be really fun once you realize you are doing to them what they done to you.

The mass devestation thing dosen't happen if you play ona board that apocalypse sized games are meant to be played on, i.e a warhouse floor. But since we are linited to mere 10' by 5' tables, its best not to complain...

Well Apocalypse games are meant to be played on not too big tables. Normally everyone should have a 24" deep deployment zone and between your and your opponents deployment zone should be around 12"nomansland.

I haven't bought the book yet, what size board does it suggest playing on?

I don't have the book either. Its just what was written in the last White Dwarf. Since the battles are really huge they recommend smaller battlefields since it would take ages to move all the minis over long distances before they get into CC.

Yeah, I noticed there wasn't a huge amount of room on the boards they used in the latest WD Apocalypse battle report.

it has several different board sizes. but nothing more than 24" wide ( I think) You can also use different configurations of boards. the 12" no man's land shows where you can't deploy. Usually, as in most games, you will roll the scatter die and then draw a line from the table edge that it points to and the furthest corner. this is the deployment zones.
