I was teaching a friend how to play. He had necrons, I had guard, of course. One of his squads wastes one of mine, the only survivor a plasma gunner. That plasma gunner lasted the rest of the game taking out warriors until the last turn when he blew himself up. He refused to let the enemy have the satisfaction of killing him.

Hmmm...can't remember too many off the top of my head but:
1.In a recent apocalypse game, my J.O. armed with a meltabomb destroyed a brass scorpion in CC, almost killing the nightbringer and stunning another scorpion in the ensuing 11 inch explosion.
2.My first game as guard resulted in me mobbing 10 assault terminators, 10 assault marines and a fully tooled-up force commander with two full platoons, 6 ogryns and 3 sentinels. First turn saw the annihilation of the assault marines and terminators in return for about a dozen guardsmen and two ogryns. His commander stood alone in this melee for three turns, making every save (even with about 9 powerfists trying to hit him each turn).
3.A lone plasma gunner, sole survivor of an eighteen veteran assault force, managed to immobilise and repeatedly stun a defiler. Keeping it out of the fight for several turns.
4.Playing as witch hunters; a demon prince murdered my inquisitor, preparing to slaughter my heavy weapons the following turn. All that stood in his way was the lone survivor of the retinue; a crusader, ever faithful to the emperor he stood his ground against the foul beast for two turns, before being overwhelmed by a squad of reinforcing daemonettes.

Well, not much of these heroic stuff happends to me, because I almost always do battle against SM:s. But in an apocalypse match, an squad of my space wolf blood claws was shoot out to only one standing man. He alone distracted almost thirty terminators and ten traitor marines from getting behind our lines. He lasted för several rounds, without taking any wounds, but evetually he fell. "The fallen shall forever be reminded, as the Emperors finest."
Another match, 5 terminators deep striked behind my lines, and only one squad was close enough to fire at them. Everyone missed exept one. He alone killed two terminators with his lasgun, and the next round, the SM:s was wiped. By lasguns.
I've also heard of a daemon prince, who had lost a wound after killing a space marine HQ squad, was kill by a stand alone guardsman. It must have been like this. "OH NO! DAEMON!" (crack of lasgun) BOOOM HEADSHOT!

1sgt Krane has served me with distinction repeatedly. In one game he was tooled up with HI but he and his 4 compatriots stood up against an entire blood claw pack and later an additional 10 grey hunters w/ rune priest. Eventually every member of the army but Krane fell. In an attempt to protect the Emperor's honor he calls out the rune priest in one on one combat. The Rune Priest unable to show fear infront of the blood claw pups accepts and is dealt a wound on the first round. My sarge not taking one wound laughs in his face. The Rune Priest the displayed his lack of courage and called for the aid of his pack brothers. Krane didn't make it. I did roll out the dice to see what would have happened though and Krane would have actually dropped the rune priest though.
Krane also served with distinction in defending against the Tau in a raid mission. The entire line of guard wiped out, with just scattered remains fleeing the field, the armor reserves delayed, stromtroopers gunned down, it was just Krane and his half strength squad with a single beat up autocannon, facing down two crisis suits, a broadside suit, a full squad of fire warriors, a transport, and the el' himself. Krane rallies what was left of his squad and faced down the charge from the crisis suits, dropping one in the initial wave. The second crisis suit fearing the enraged Krane turns and runs and is summarily executed with a lasround to the head. Krane then urges his men out into the open and charges the El' head on, screening him from reaching the downed Tau drop pod containing vital intel that so many Guard had died trying to protect. Krane then holds off the El, who survived only by the use of stem packs, for two turns while the Imperial Armor could make it to the line and repel the commie bastards. All this with only his trusty laspistol, chainsword, and a whole lot of guts.
