I was reading the codex the other day and noticed The Battle of Tyrok Fields. It said that 12 members of the 7th regiment were alive and that they would never let their flag touch the ground as each one of them died. Does anyone know what happens after that battle? I was thinking that my army could be "The New 7th Regiment". I could have the old flag that was not alloud to touch the ground in my army and it could be counted as a Trademark Item maybe. What do you all think of this as an army scheme? Does anyone know what happened to the 7th?

well probably just like every other cadian force they survived the battle, were given more men and continue to fight in the name of the emperor

sounds like a neat thing to include in your army. it's always neat to have things you can point out and tell a story about regarding your army. I've found that I need to see my army as a collection of game pieces, and not a bunch of soldiers that MUST live for my armies story to go on. In 40k, it is an inevitability that our armies will be crushed and defeated, so finding a way to make it less painful when our armies lose is an important thing (to me at least). fluff is really good, but when our army MUST survive for our fluff to remain intact, then that's probably something that we should re-evaluate. It's no good for me when I'm stressing out about a toss of the dice - I have no control over the outcome, so I find some fluff actually is negative because it locks me into a mode where I am kinda like 'aahhh, I can't lose!' or 'I can't let my commander die!' I dunno...food for thought

well thats cool however if your army is crushed and only a few survive they can become veterans while the rest of your army is just a bunch of new recruits.
that jo that survived what ever tragedy you had last time he could be your senior officer now.
so on and so forth. remember its not the story of the men its the story of the regiment/company/platoon

For those who think that just because they lose the game and their commander went down it doesn't mean that they died. Remember, It is roll to hit, then roll to wound. You are saving against a wound that doesn't allow your model to continue fighting. It does not mean that the medics, and the apothocarium are not able to bring them back to duty.
I say go for the idea. Keep the fluff going and add your own battles to the board.

Yeah, they might just have their legs chopped off!
I love the idea behind this army, real cool.

Correct me if Im wrong, but wasnt it just 12 men that carried the banner? I was under the impression that the 7th were not destroyed but instead just took heavy losses until the 8th came in to deliver a big can of whoop-ass on the traitor scum. In the rulebook thiers a great picture of the battle, with one man bravely holding the banner while the bearer befoer him still is pitifully clinging to it under him even in his death throes.
