hi guys i've a concept for you that i've come up with. those of you you that have seen my pink vostroyan squad. and have scratched your heads and thought "why do that, that blokes a wierdo" this is the concept behind them recently proved while playing them i carapaced armoured them and stuck them in cover way out away from my main body and actual plan and guess when my oponents have mostly ignored my drab main body and gone for my gaudy gaurdsmen leaving me to rampage all over the board killing everything and this is not a one off, five times now, when fielded my opponents have wasted rounds trying to destroy the pinko's so thats my concept have a throw away squad that draws your opponents eye in some bright colours try it. [glow=red,2,300]it works[/glow].

So that would mean that oponents will start going after my Liche Purple/Bleached Bone Grenadiers and not after my albinos in urban camo?

LOL thats a great idea Sammy.Confuse your oponent, make him think your regular guardsmen with different colored clothing are a really important/super tough new type of uber guardmen that you need to fear.Thats why they are wearing that color and all the way in the back.Thats really awesome it worked, i might have to try something like that. This site gives such great ideas =)

guys im not sure of this effect when all your troops are bright perhaps you should reverse it and have a drab squad thats a throw away and see if that draws the enemy fire.

It's not just bright colours people go for. If you've got a well painted converted figure it'll get shot up before the normal figures.
This use to happen a lot when I used Dark Angels- I had two dreadnoghts one was plain armed with Twin Lascannon and Missile launcher and the other was a heavily converted deathwing dreadnought armed with Assault cannon and powerfist.
My opponents would always try a take out the deathwing dreadnought first even though it posed less of a threat (with it's shorter ranged weapon) whilst my other dreadnought sat back knocking off targets.

I find that kinda odd, i don't bother looking at the paintjob to decide what to kill when and first, i just look what it's armed with and think what that is a threat too. I woulden't shoot at a SM squad cause they're really nicley painted and even if the do attract the eye, i would shoot at the land raider even if it has a worthless paintjob. I do not see any use for this and i know this woulden't trick any of my friends and i personally woulden't fall for it, but as said above i guess some people do fall for this.

ah its a mental thing i bet if you where presented with five squads all with similar weapons but one was a bright colour. you would attack the bright ones it wouldn't work with smurfs or elder or anything else as there supposed to be brite infact there bland ones would probably draw your eye first its a ig phenomena caused by 90% of players painting there ig bland combat dpm style colours the bright ones just draw the eye its probably totally unconsius decision. then the whole doubt thing drops in you start second guessing yourself asking why are they there why are the bright why's have they up armoured them at very little points cost 100 pts approx you cause a diversion that causes doubt thats a good start postion, if you stick a couple of cheap pyskers about and one with the bright squad at next to no points it makes them nervous,

i'm usually interested in their paint job before or after a game...whilst he is deploying his guys or he would just show them to me...but during the game...it all comes down to the tactical perspective, of threat issues and maximum damage potental....though yet again...it is fun to see one or two of the oponents...FINELY painted models blow up from a couple of battle cannons/lascannons/missile launchers/etc...u sometimes get the reaction: "awww but they were the good looking guys"

I find it is always my newest thing that I've been harping on about that gets the most attention. I spent ages converting my vets, and the first time I played with them (not even properly painted) they take a direct hit from a looted Lisk earth shaker cannon . I tend to keep quiet about new additions now lol. I know my hellhound will be a bullet magnet when I have that painted up.

If you let your opponent know that you realy love a certain model and it's your pride and joy, then chances are he'll try a knock it out as quickly as possible.
Human nature I suppose.

lol, yeah and i suppouse if you have a really well painted and converted model they will think that it is worth lots of points because you spent ages painting it really well lol.
and woz "he'll" what if you are versing a "she" because it could happen lol, and dont try to offend G.O.D or she will go all comissarette on you lol.

yeah, I don't even mention my demo charges anymore, I just pretend they don't exist and pray they aren't sighted in my ocean of catachan green and commando khaki I'd think a squad of the old berret wearing stormtroopers would totally make the rank 'fire magnet first class' too.
