i dont use advisors, but i would use a commissar if i decided to expand my army from the 1000 point mark xD

Not really sure if they are my fav, but commissars are certainly the ones I use the most.
Untargetable power fist, increased LD for ur officers, really helps keep ur army on track. Have been toying with taking independent ones, but only to keep a bunch of conscripts in line.
Psykers and preists certainly have their uses, but if ur taking docs, the price is too high. Would prob take more if I wasn't using docs tho.

Personnely i like Commissars too. It infuriates people when they cant kil that mysterious person with the poowerfist when he's surrounded by 30 other guardsmen.

I like sanctioned psykers, you can over-man your command squads by a model for double the cost of a regular guardsmen. having an extra wound in my command squad has gone a long way for helping my standard keep flying thru a mortar bombardment and stuff. it also paves the way to a far more successful commissar because you can soak one more wound before the commissar drops which means he is more likely to get to swing that one last time.

Commissar by far. Other advisors have their uses but nothing beats the leadership boost you get from a commissar. Their fluff also rocks.

i voted for commissars....u gotta love that leadership...plus with a power fist add to it...man can it do damage...along with ure officer makes fer relatively formidable squad

I'm looking forward to adding the new powerfist commissar that they're gonna be coming out with at some point here (see rumors forum for the pics of the new commissar models ) sanctioned psyker AND a commissar in the squad will be really nice - 7 man command squad woo!

Commissars are a must, stop those acamdy rich boy officers trying to run and hide unless the commissar is ciahpis cain of course

I really love the priest models. Commisars are very handy for keeping your army from legging it off the battlefield though. I would take some sanctioned psykers too but I can't. All these guys have their uses.

+1 ld to my officer? yes please. with the relatively low morale of the common guard, the commissars are a great addition.
you can also take the independent commissars if you like them, and then put one in your big platoon of conscripts, now thats nice

Thats wat im gonna do with my penal legion, put a commissar leading my non-combat con's (conscripts) and let them soak up the fire.

I know this has been gone over in the past but I'm again finding myself unsure and in need of an answer on this one. say I have a Ld9 officer w/ commissar (so Ld10 right?) do squads effected by the master vox get to test off the officers improved Ld of 10? by the way, I'm typing without my codex, as I'm not at home at the moment, so if a commissar doesn't give +1 leadership (which I think he does but I'm not sure) then just tell me to shut my yap and move on
