Alrighty I have a big Tourny coming up and this is the first serious guard army I am fielding in tourny play so feedback feedback feedback please
HQ is a heroic senior officer (Major Butters) with a medic, a standard vox, and a missile launcher
2x mortar squads (because they are fun, no one uses them, and psychologicly they are pretty devistating when you can hit and they cannot)
TROOPS
Inf HQ has a medic and 3 plasma guns. I use them to move and engageenemy light vehicles and annoying space marines that like to get close for assaults
2 squads both armed the same (Vox, Melta Gun, Missile Launcher)
Conscripts a-go-go (40 models 4 of which man auto cannons). They absorb INSANE ammounts of fire and keep kicking out thos 8 autocannon hits every round. BS may not be that great but law of averages says (and has proven in my last 4 games) that I will get at least 2 or more hits at that nice big strength of 7. To boot all those lasguns focused on the nearing assault squad really gives them a bad day
HEAVY
Leman Russ Demolisher armed with Hvy Bolter sides and las cannon hull weapon.
I have 82 minies on the field for a 1k game and a tank that just sucks up the fire. I have 15pts left to spend and my army has chem inhalers as one of their special gear (Will never get rid of them. Love the flavor text to much and what they do for me is just awesome).
Tactics in general are my overall HQ stands back with mortars behind the conscripts as a base of fire. I lack speed and so I do my best to advance my inf platoon in with my Leman Russ under mortar support. My conscripts go dreadnaught/lt vehicle/devastator hunting as that many auto cannons always tend to do something.
SO HIT ME WITH FEED BACK PEOPLE. I have 15 pts to spend and less than a week to do it. Aside from speed what am I missing and how can I get it.
