Does anyone use Creed in their lists? Does anyone use any of the special characters at all? Perhaps I am not reading it correctly, but it seems that if you use Creed, you have a greater chance of going first or you can choose which side you pick (not both, but still...) Why wouldn't you want to do that?
I was hoping that we could discuss the advantages and disadvantages of Creed in your army list. In fact, does anyone have a sample army list using Creed?

well, for a start Lord Castellan Creed commands the cadian 8th, and as you can still use him in your armies it just isnt that good unless you are making a cadian 8th army and most of us dont make the cadian 8th. Also some people collect armies that arent just based entirely on winning and the heroic senior officer dudes look cool.
I know some guy did an army list using creed awhile back but i dont know where.
ps:welcome to the forum ;D

Aren't you confusing him with Schaeffer now? Creed has only Kell with him. Schaeffer's got Kage.

I wasn't saying that I think everyone should use him, I was just saying it was odd that I couldn't find even one army that did use him. And what do you mean by Cadian 8th? I am obviously a new player, but I do play a Cadian army. How is the 8th different? I would be interested in incorporating the theme into my army. In regards to army construction, let me make sure I've read the rules correctly. As I understand it, I can take Creed/Kell as my only HQ choice and be legal, correct? Is that a good/bad idea? And I totally agree that the SO figure is boss looking

the cadian 8th is a company of troops, its just their name, its the normal catachan green and desert yellow fatigues that not many people use or if they do they usually dont call it the cadian 8th (like turtleboys for example)

It's the company that Creed fought with at the start of the latest Black Crusade from the Eye of Terror. Eventually, he did become Lord Castellan, but he retained the Cadian 8th as his own guards. Hence their title "Creed's Own"

I appreciate the responses, that makes a little more sense to me now. Can anyone help me with my other question though? I just want to make sure that I am making a legal army when I include him in the list: In regards to army construction, let me make sure I've read the rules correctly. As I understand it, I can take Creed/Kell as my only HQ choice and be legal, correct? Is that a good/bad idea? Thanks.

You have to be fielding a Cadian army (altho that does not mean u have to use the cadian doctrines, but obviously, can not use a different regiments).
Creed takes up 1 HQ slot, so that u can still have a command platoon as well, which can be lead by any of the officer options as normal.
Oh, and the army has to be above the points limit in the codex.
