this is my 1500 point list. fluff wise its an inquisitor Volkers personal force (he gets included in larger games) which he uses to achieve his goals. they are completely loyal and merciless. they will follow any order without question. this also means that no major offices are needed as the inquisitor has control of the army. the command squads in this army are actually special weapons squads (only fluff wise though) because of their loyalty and devotion they are not destroyed after an engagement with raw chaos as a standard guard force would. they are mind wiped.
here's the list:
Doctrines: Close Order Drill (all squads have it) Heavy Weapon Platoons Sharpshooters Drop Troops (this is a just in case thing, if the mission allows it) (one free slot)
HQ
Command Squad: Junior Officer with las pistol and Chainsword 4 x Grenade Launchers
Fire Support Squad: 3 x Heavy Bolter Sharp Shooters
Fire Support Squad: 3 x Heavy Bolter Sharp Shooters
Anti-Tank Support Squad: 3 x Lascannons Sharp Shooters

dude for larger games when your inquisitor turns up you are aware that you cant take any doctorines? also there a distinct lack of elites on there you could do with some storm troopers and some armour, remember the IG's power is ints versatility and numbers. you've alot of heavy weapon support squads that will force you to stay very static, however if your only playing nids and orks thats not a bad thing but any take and hold missions could be hard as you cant move and shoot quick enough, on the whole its a great list for fighting people with nmasses of armour, and if i was a tratior armoured column i would be v/worried maybe put some mortars in there or something. to get some good blast templates going on, and with your hq squad maybe drop some of the grenade launchers and put bolters or something in. i like the list and would use something very similar against the right enemy. dont get me wrong, but at 1500pts its a very enemy type specfic force, perhaps you need to set something more generic up? to assist the inquistion

It is only indoctrinated IG that can not use doctrines, IE, taking IG with a DH or WH army, not the other way round, so using docs should be fine. How I read it any way.
Deffo lots fo HWs, but 6 squads with plasma, and 2 nade heavy CSs should give enough mobility. You find that finding good set up possitions for that many HW teams is tricky.
Only main point I'd make is that a JO may not be enough to keep you squads in check, so a SO or HSO may be needed if not taking the IQ.

I think your army list is great. The versatility lies in the platoons whilst your heavy weapons keeps your opponent on the edge. One thing im scared of is your lack of morale potential. Adding a commissar and a bannner or maybe even a couple of voxers can greatly save some guards from running of that battle field. otherwise, nice one!

thanks for the feedback guys with the daemon hunters inquisitor i was going to use it as an ally to the army so it wont affect the doctrines. sammy1979: the list list is designed to have the punch in the heavy weapons and the mobility in the guardsmen. i like a specific list. i like having a focus and game plan for the army. as for Armour i have found with other army (ie marines) that Armour is only useful if you use 2-4 pieces, otherwise they become bullet magnets and a waste of points. this list allows me to negate all my opponents anti Armour heavy weapons (IE lascannons) for example: "oh my god! he just killed one of my 6 point guardsmen with his 25 point lascannon!" trooper249: leadership isn't really an issue. my guys are leadership 8 (thanks to close order drill) and most of my men are cannon fodder anyway. thank for the complements though ;D

Maybe give your JO's powerweapons, they are nice and cheap. And get 2 more veterans in the vet squad. You could hive your HQ command squad a little more kit, as at the minute they are providing neither leadership nor firepower nor counterassault. But since I haven't actually use my guard in over a year (there being no one to play with in this country...) I may be just being stupid.

Very cool list. All infantry lists always pique my interest :} And I must say, this army has SCARY rapid-fire potential. 16x plasma shots = BOOM... that's going to kill SOMETHING. My only advice is be very very careful with Close order drill. Only stick to it when:
A) your opponent is far away and has very few or no template weapons that can reach you B) just before assualting/being assaulted
Guard infantry has a tendancy to... all die instantly anyway, being in close order drill can speed up the process rather a lot in the wrong situation, so stay frosty!
