Too big and I cant properly evaluate the entire situation and die a horrible and sucky death/ Too small and things get cramped and okkard.

I have calculated that IG actually get better the more points we play with due to the whole nature of the platoon system as well as the fact are elites are only slightly better than our troops. But my vote isin th 1500 quarter. games bigger than that are fun, but a 1500 point list is the basis of any succesful army

I'm a man of the extremes. I either want to play really big battles (Apcalypse) or really small commando mission (Kill teams and Necromunda). If I have to choose a "normal" size I'll take about 2000 point battles

Im smack down in the middle at 2000 points, they're not too big or not too small and you can still get a sense of divising tactical situations with your army, rather than just blasting everything in an apocalypse game. As some people have said already, IG tend to do more better in bigger games, where some quality is mixed in with the overall quantity that is your army

I love huge games, That's where real strategy pays off. When your playing a truly epic game, the fickle dice mean less the more models you have, and the probabilities really start to even out. Sure there's still some utterly freakish occurances(all the more memorable!), but for the most part, your grand plans play our much more artfully(or fail more disastrously!). This is at least my experience. They do take a long time though :]
We usually do large-scale campaigns with kill-team missions in between that can affect certain factors in the next game. Fun times.

Never were truer words spoken. I have always seen larger games like this, and its one of the main reasons I play them when I do!

I enjoy 2000 points, anymore than that and it takes a couple of years to finish a game. My friends get distaracted very easily!

I completely agree with thefanciestofpants . I like the tactical side of IG and anything less than 2000pts becomes a "who can roll the luckiest" type of game.

i like 1500pts because 3000pts and it takes too long and your opponent tends to rush things... i like to have as many games as possible seen as im not hugely experienced and anything i havent played much against its good to learn from i think its depends on how much time your willing to spend because if you spent ages on a little battle then yeah the settings would probably be reli cool but if you spent the same amount of time on apocalypse you would barely be able to finish the game without rushing somewhat.

3K is where its at for me. if you play on a 6x6 or 8x4 it can be a great time. like someone stated earlier the small games are about how the dice roll, the big ones are who can out maneuver the enemy. Downside to guard though is there is only one real option for 3plt of INF on a 6x6 and that stand in a long line (one side of the table to the other) But its still about tactics.

I like the 2000 pts, as a regular. After all, you can still get your baneblade into play on that score. Altrough you don't use the apocalypse blast template. However, I could still go for a 750pts match, we use to play that when we don't have that much time. It's gives a little more balance to the game than 500p, but but doesnt take as long as 1000+ games. But...
