Hello, all. I'm a bit new to the game. In fact, this is my first army list, so I thought I'd see what other, more experienced players thought before I shelled out so much cash to get everything.
HQ: Command Squad: -Senior Officer w/laspistol and powersword -Guardsman w/Grenade Laucher -Guardsman w/ Vox -Guardsman x2 Troops: Platoon 1: Command Squad: -Junior Officer w/laspistol and chainsword -Guardsman w/Vox -Guardsman w/Grenade Launcher -Guardsman x2
Squad 1 -Seargant w/ laspistol and chainsword -Guardsman w/Vox -Guardsman w/Grenade Launcher -Lascannon team -Guardsman x5 Squad 2 -Seargant w/ laspistol and chainsword -Guardsman w/Vox -Guardsman w/Grenade Launcher -Autocannon team -Guardsman x5 Armored Fist Squad: -Seargant w/ laspistol and chainsword -Guardsman w/Vox -Guardsman w/Meltagun -Guardsman x7 -Chimera w/Multilaser, Heavy Bolter, Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers.
By my most likely incorrect count, I've got 26 points left. Any suggestions on what to change or add?

ohh, verrryyyyyyyy nice, probably better than mine, you could possibly give your command squad a missile team, and your Junior Officer Platoon command a HB team, or something that costs ten points

I'd max out on special weapons for ur command squads, u have enough for 3 more nade launchers or 4 flamers, or 3 flamers and a nade launcher.
I'd consider putting 3 nade launchers in the CS of the command platoon, and 3 flamers in the cs of the inf platoon. keep the nade squad back, and send the flamers forward with a couple of squads of guard.

Edit: Oops, seems my list was illegal. Stormies have two heavy weapons, not guardsman. It's all good now.
Well, after getting a chance to play a for realz game against my buddies (went against Tau, 'Nids and Sisters and lost miserably) I think that I have a better idea of what is useful and what's not. How's this list look?
Doctrines: Close Order Drill (The only free one )
HQ: Command Squad: -Senior Officer w/Laspistol and Powerfist -Guardsman w/Vox -Guardsman w/Grenade Launcher x3
Troops: Platoon 1: Platoon Command Squad: -Junior Officer w/Bolt Pistol and Chainsword -Guardsman w/Vox -Guardsman w/Flamer -Autocannon Team
Squad 1: -Sergeant w/Laspistol & Chainsword -Guardsman w/Vox -Guardsman w/Grenade Launcher -Missle Launcher Team -Guardsman x4
Squad 2: -Sergeant w/Laspistol & Chainsword -Guardsman w/Vox -Guardsman w/Grenade Launcher -Guardsman x6
Armored Fist Squad: -Sergeant w/Laspistol & Chainsword -Guardsman w/Vox -Guardsman w/Melta -Guardsman x7 -"Holy Diver" Chimera: Multi-Laser, Heavy Bolter, Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers

True. The guys at Eternity of War have helped me get my list to a bit of a more competive level. I figure since I'm playing one of the weaker armies, why bother pulling any punches?
Doctrines: Close Order Drill, Drop Troops HQ: SO w/Bolt Pistol Lascannon Plasma x2
Troops: JO w/Bolt Pistol Lascannon Plasma x2
Infantry Squad Heavy Bolter Grenade Launcher
Infantry Squad Heavy Bolter Grenade Launcher
Armored Fist Squad Flamer Chimera: Multilaser, Heavy Bolter, Extra Armor

If you've got any extra points try to put a Heavy Stubber on the Chimera. 9 (3 Multi-laser, 3 HBolter and 3 from the Stubber) shots that have a 36" range is pretty nice ;D It looks like a good list as well

perhaps if you change your lascannons for missile launchers. ML are more all-round, cheaper and at this ammount of points ought to do the job done

Finally got to play a full-scale game to day instead of combat patrol, using a 750 pt version of this list. I added a Russ with bolters and extra armor, gave everybody light infantry, and some snipers.
The snipers died horribly, so they will be omitted from the next version, but I am no longer skeptical of the power of the plasma gun, as my Jo, his lascannon and plasma gunners killed a tooled-up Carnifex in one turn.
