I'am calm. It's you ignoring the facts and judging fast. But if you don't want to argue anymore I can live with that...

catchans all look like exstras from the blue oyster bar, how ever they have there uses i have a small unit that i use in my random regiment. though there save is cack most guards die on the first shot as every one blasting us has a way better ap/strengh any way. so why worry Ig is all about the numbers and catchans have a way better convertion potential.

Yup. Catachans are great for conversions and greenstuffing. I'm currently converting some of them in my new Necromunda gang and I'm quite statisfied how they turn out.

if you look at the fluff behind the Catachans you realise why they are so big and muscled, and they all look like Arnold in Predator, or Rambo( a.k.a. sly marbo).Catachans are a great theme army if you want to play like a planetary assault campaign and have a few different types of armies like i do.( i'm up to 6 different types of guard regiments now).
I agree that they have very limited uses and are not very good outside of the jungle IF they are played as jungle fighters,The thing is, you don't need to use them AS jungle fighters.Flack armour comes in all different types.Who is to say that their flack isn't some kind of new thing that is woven into their clothing?
If you want to use them as normal guardsmen and not jungle fighters you could say that, then when you want to play in the jungle against kroot( i have to agree with knight on this one and not becouse Catachans were one of my first armies)then make them actual catachans. There is nothing to say you can't have a few different lists for the same army, and call them different names even though they are the same models.
The potential for conversion with the catachans is incredable, and if you like the army box then so much the better.Remember the flamer sentinals come with the multilaser gun also and rare earth magnets are not always cheap but can help out alot.
Hope that helps abit.

Calm down knight, deep breaths. This is only a friendly discussion. Good to hear from you 9th company by the way...... Yeah, I`ve been quiet for a while because I`ve been busy with work. How are your DKoK veterans coming along? And I agree Catachans make excellent conversion models. I`m going to use parts of them to make my cadian vets a little more tougher looking.

I haven't started yet, thanks for asking though. I think I'll take your advice............
Catachans are good for convertors, I'll admit, but I still think the models are a bit dodgy........ the worrying thing is one of my mates loves the models, that says quite a bit.......hmm.

dont really like catachans but i did think of alternate rules for a street gang list that count all 5+ terrain as jungle it would make catachans worth there points and good for city fight.
Kroot are better anyhow, but i dont like their range either i'd just do what the guy on the GW website did and convert melee tau ninjas.Kroot mercs would make a good list if kroots didnt look like a bunch of plucked chickens they should be more feathered or scaly, the smooth skin with the quills is weird. And they dont look enough like predators to go down that conversion path. And although they're very Native american like in background the models dont capture that. Although i once saw some lovely conversions that were indians. mabey id do that i dont know.

haha nice way to put it Azalar....i think kroot are very much the perfect predators in the 41st millenium....if u've read any books depicting kroot u will notice their awesome characteristics, adaptions, etc.
painting kroot can be a little tricky tho i agree....game wise....well....they do their part

Im sorry, but Kroot are so much betting in jungle warefare, if you take an all Kroot army [which I plan to do] you have acsess to a lot of good elites, Stalker kindred, which ambush, vulture kindred which fly.
Kroot are cheaper, better guns, better in close combat and have good elites and heavy support choice, plus a good HQ Choice.
5 Kroot council squad, with 10 hounds and 5 Evcisroators, thats like 15 wounds and a lot of attacks.
They outshine catachan.
Also, another note, get back on topic.
