I am still having growing pains with my army. I have been able to shake off most of the marine style tactics (walking in the open and planning on hitting when shooting) but their are still some area I would like to get some fresh perspective on
Here are my doctorin picked
Consrcipts, Rough riders, Indipendent Commissars, Light Infantry (just picked it up), and Chem Inhalers (never getting rid of that one).
I am open to ideas for others doc's but mostly I am looking at keeping with the theme of chaos or out of imperium faction using drugs to cow their forces and inhance performance on the battle field
conscripts are just hooked enough to be finally issued a las but have not proven themselves enough to be given a steady supply of drugs. They are usually going through withdrawls and have the shakes. Indi commissars are my operational overseers. They monitor chem intake and compile on site data about performance. The rest is negotiable. With that... meat and potatoe time
Assaults are killing me in more ways than one. I need to stop them or stomp them out before they begin. Rough riders help, but are one shot and I hate holding them back as a counter assault unit (dont like feeling I am wasting all that speed). If I am to close together they follow right up into my next unit. To far apart and I cannot bring more fire to bear on them before they assault. Regrettably my chem inhalers tend to keep my guys around long enough to die off in my turn giving my opponent a consolodation move towards me followed by his standard turn of advancing and slapping me around in shooting/assault
Vet sgt's. I cannot give them power weapons and all they really seem to do is lend another point of LD to the unit and an extra attack. Am I overlooking something here? Are they really worth it? What could I do with them aside from a storm bolter or plasma pistol
In my 1k army list I have a Leman Russ demolisher as my primary tank. Side sponsons are multimeltas. It has paid off in spades with both fire soak and ability to pop enemy vehicles. Rough riders tend to be what keeps it safe from assault as they use it for cover and charge out when the marines get close.
We are looking at the next 500pts and I need ideas. I am posting my army list under "The Crimson Brotherhood". All idea's are welcome. I am still looking for that balance between firepower and mobility. So far I have either been to static or taken apart piece meal. I am giving the LT Infantry a try in the hopes of getting things in range of the melta's and be competative for objectives.
