Who here can say that their parents are really truely interested in the hobby or the game of warhammer? I can flat out say not me.. except for my father in law.. for some reason this guy continues to ask how I am doing with it since he found out I played.. and has never heard of it before.. So since he is so interested in it and in the fact that I can paint ( my wife can't so he's amazed she married someone creative apparently ) I decided to paint him up a model.. and considering he works in Siberia, and does a lot of business in Russia.. what better model than the Vostriyan Commander model.. So here's a picture I got off before I packed it up for him.. Still working on taking pics but this is better than my normal pics.. and I was testing new basing types.. Whatcha think? Will let you know what he said when I see/talk to him next as well.. Cheers Gris

great model. I really like how ornate the vostroyans are. GW did a great thing for the russian part of the world in producing that line of minis

yeah this model was a ton of fun to paint.. though to paint an entire army like this would be insane though.. cause I would have so much details to put into each one that I would do them individually instead of in a line format.. just to make them original.. though I do have the rest of the command box, a serg, and some snipers to paint up still.. will be my special weapons team..
cheers Gris

Good job, love the colors, nice metal work and the cloak looks very cool. Cool base as well.

Sappmer .. they are based off of russian ww2 type era.. and my father in law works for a russian company in siberia.. and his wife is russian.. so it works.. so I gave it to him today and he was pleasantly surprised by it.. I guess when the wife said I played with toy soldiers and painted.. he didnt expect it to be anything good.. but he was very surprised about it and kept telling me to begin to paint to sell .. explained how that was just not an option dont have fuzziness's skills at layering and such.. was still pretty cool though to get a compliment from him about it..

That is awesome that your father in-law has taken an interest....not many parents do (waste of money apparently) . Great work.

Yeah, my parents try to act interested sometimes. They call it a waste of money, I cant see the pic but thats a great sentiment.

My mums a geologist and my dads a mathematician, handy for homework but they despise the concept of model soldiers and rolling dice. Nice paint job by the way.

lol thanks for the bump.. forgot I did this model.. if I were to do it over again though I think it would have made it a bit more dark overall.. but the metals I would have tried to make shine a bit more.. to show his Pride in what he does but also the fact that he is on the battlelines.. cheers Gris

Tell them there is always drugs, booze, and women that you could spend your money on.. parents begin to understand this hobby a bit more when those thoughts are brought forward... Cheers Gris
