Hey folks, just wondering how to paint desert camo? Want to do it U.S style, as in similar to the U.S delta force and rangers during the Somalian Civil War. I no the helmets of the Delta Force were in fact Hockey helmets painted black and the body armour/webbing should be black but i'm struggling to find a suitable fatigue colour scheme. should it be tiger striped or stippled? also what colours? thanks a bunch guys PsYcHo

Check my pics on this thread: commissar.proboards22.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1194387710I am using a "chocolate chip" pattern for my desert camo, base coat is Testors Model Master Modern Desert Sand PN# 1963, using Bleached Bone as the lighter shade, Bestial Brown for darker, then salt & pepper with Chaos Black and Skull White. The actual Chocolate Chips were six colors, but at gaming distances, only five would be noticeable.

Be forewarned: The base color I choose is an oil-based enamel paint.
If (through experience) you know what the performance expectations and what the benefits and drawbacks to using oil based paints are, and can accept, or know what to do to counter them if needed, I feel one should never fear using them.
Medium mattered not, it was all about the color match for me - this color was the very best approximation for what I was looking for without having to mix my own (which for an eventual 150+ figures... NO... I ain't gonna mix my own!)

Not every desert is going to be the same, so why should every example of desert camo?
That in mind, think of a good base color, like a khaki color, say, and maybe do up patches of a darker brown in places, with other patches of say a bone color, perhaps?
