As daylight broke upon the imperial guard firing lines, the kroot army advanced with their large beasts and almost dog-like smaller creatures.
The heroic senior officer walked up behind the lines with his advisor and the regimental standard waving behind them.
The heavy bolter in the 1st squad was set next to a small group of trees while the other squads readied their missile launchers and grenade launchers.
The the stormtroopers followed the officer and standard behind the lines as support squads set up their lascannons along a fence.
The kroot come upon the map in a massive horde and charged forward at great speed, as the vultures took to the air and came ever closer to the imperial lines.
The Junior officer set up a lascannon while his commissar gave orders to others around him, the kroot finally came into view as the guardsmen fired upon them with grenades, missiles and their las rifles.
The Commissars shouted orders out to the men as they fired at the quickly approaching horde.
The kroot returned fire from the skies as vultures swooped down and wiped out a complete squad in close combat.
As guardsmen dropped from shots, the imperial lines held as they kept on firing at the oncoming enemy, the kroot were slowly getting worn down as they got closer.

The kroot come forth with large beasts, and the guardsmen realised they would be in contact with them soon as they fixed bayonets and started firing rapidly, the missiles flew through the sky and into kroot forces, along with grenades, holes in the horde began to develop but there were also gaps forming in the imperial lines.
The Commissars kept shooting with their bolt pistols, the lascannons nearly killing one of the great beasts.
The Kroot returned fire and assaulted the now weak imperial lines, with overwhelming numbers they wiped out another squad.
The Officers, commissars, stormtroopers assaulted the large horde before firing their pistols in a feutile effort to stop the advancing kroot.
As the Heroic senior officer and his advisors cut down 6 kroot, the regimental standard bearer was decapitated in combat, meanwhile across the lines the junior officer was fighting with the last 2 remaining squads of the infantry against the large beasts, the commissar in one of the squads went toe to toe with one of the monsters and killed it while the rest of his squad was wiped out by the kroot.
The other squad was quickly becoming overwhelmed, but a chimera cruised past with an iron fist squad mounted inside, however the kroot swarmed the tank and it exploded as a kroot warrior hit its fuel line and in a fury of flame the soldiers inside were killed except for their commissar who emerged wounded as all around him dead kroot and guardsmen and now a sea of kroot fought he shot the first kroot he saw and pulled out his sword and ran into combat, he caught a laser to the head moments later.

The junior officer and his commissar ran to go help the commissar fighting the large beast and as they cut apart the last of the kroot on that side of the table they were surrounded by the rest of the kroot army.
The few flamers left from torn apart squads fired killing some kroot, the 2 commissars fired their bolt pistols, the junior officer fired off a few of the last shots he would ever shoot as the remnants of the imperial line were overrun and torn apart by the ravenous kroot.
However their sacrifice bought enough time for the heavy artillery to get into place miles away from where they had been masacred and the kroot were shelled out of existence.
