Well I dusted off the Amazonian LXIX after not hving played a real game in about two months. It was an apoc battle of Tau/Guard versus the girls in pink. "Dubbed back to the kitchen woman".
Both sides had as close to 7K as we could get. My opponents had two strategic assets to my one.
This was a 5 turn game. It would have been 6 turns, but it was a time shortage that ended the game early.
7K Amazonian LXIX force
Emperor's Wrath Artillery company (9 Basilisk, 1 Chimera Command Tank)
1 Hell Hammer
2 Bane Blade
1 Shadow Sword
1 Leman Russ (Standard kit)
1 Hell Hound
2 Immolators (Sister superior with Celestians in one, and a Dominion squad w/ meltas in the other)
1 Sentinel
2500+ points IG (Notable entries 2 Lascannon, 1 missle Launcher, 1 Heavy bolter team, GL in each of the 4 squads, Tech priest with three tech servitors 4 Commissars, 10 Ogryn)
Commissar Yarricka
Opposing force
Mech Guard and Tau 7K
Defense Laser
2 Bane Blade
Hammer Head
10 Crisis suits
2 Squads of Ratling snipers
Turn One
I choose to delpoy last and take the second turn. My strategic asset (Raid) allowed me to hit every unit made up of one model prior to first turn. Only damage it did was to remove the Basilisk the opposition had (only long range threat besides the Defense Laser) My opponents took Stategic Orbital Bombardment and Precision Strike (Unit chosen was one of the Bane Blades).
First strike of the Orbital Bombardment did nothing and we moved on. The Sentinel Was one of the targets for them and they spent a good portion of their shooting phase trying to take it out. I was surprised that it made it so far into the shooting phase as it did (Going to have to give that driver a medal - posthumously of course). They also managed to do 2 Structure points to the one Bane Blade and immobilize it.
My Turn one.
Brief movement on my side to jockey for some line of sight as well as move my tech priest towards the immobilized BaneBlade (Finally made it to the tank at the end of turn 5). The Artillery company opened up and did a fair amount of damage to plenty of the guard and the tau stealth suits.
Besides the normal carnage that ensues with the troops a vast majority of the armor was unscathed.
Turns 2-3 showed little results for both sides as after my first turn of shooting I spent a lot of time looking for targets. The Artillery company was doing it's job well with little drift on any of the rounds. I was surprised that my opponents were concentrating on the single Bane Blade and trying to remove it from the game. The Shadow sword took out two more vehicles and the heavy bolters laid waste to a few squads as well (Love that BS increase just wish all my guard could shoot like that.). My Sister Superior ended up spending two rounds on one of the two Hellhounds they had before finally destroying it on turn four destroying the inferno cannon on turn 3)
Turn 4
I got tired of the damage of the defense Laser and with concentrated fire of one battery of the Artillery company it was removed from the game. (If only I had a line Breaker to just remove it totally).
Turn four also was the end of the game for the Shadow Sword (No explosion). My immobilized Bane Blade still kicking and down to just the heavy bolters. Commissar Yarricka also bit the big one, but she fought impressively through out the game and had absorbed a lot of shooting from the enemy. The Tau were down to three Crisis suits two on one side of the table and the third tied up in combat with the Dominion's since turn 3 (Lost three of the girls in total fighting the crisis suits)
Turn 5 ended with the Amazonian LXIX controlling 4 Objective of the 6 and having destroyed the ability of one of them from being a threat.
My Casualties
5 Ogryn
Commissar Yarricka
3 Sisters of the Dominion Squad
5 Celestians
3 Loaders of a Heavy Bolter Squad
1 Shadow Sword
1 Tech Servitor
17 Sisters of Battle (one squad)
1 Auto Cannon Squad (3 auto Cannon's and loaders)
Total 39 models
Opponent Losses:
2 Hell Hounds
1 Basilisk
1 Leman Russ
1 Demolisher
1 Devil Fish
1 Hammer Head
7 Crisis suits
1 Broad Side
more guardsmen then I was able to count (on my fingers and toes) he only had 4 guardsmen on the field come end of game
2 Tech Priest and servitors
7 Ratling snipers
6 Stealth Suits
18 fire warriors (one full squad and half of the second)
12 Kroot
All the gun drones of course.
easier to say what the two opponents had left on the table.
3 Crisis suits
4 Guards men
2 Bane Blades (Both Damaged)
1 Squad of Ratling snipers +3 remaining from the first Squad
All in all The game was enjoyable for both sides.
