Ok, Today was quite interesting. Had an Eldar player challenge the girls to a 2500 point game.
My Force.
2 Bassie
2 Hell hounds
1 Leman Russ (full load out)
1 Platoon (20 girls with jso with Heavy Bolter)
1 Platoon Conscripts (full platoon w/ 5 Flamers, Independent Commissar)
Orgyn (10 with Large Marge as the Bone 'Ead)
HSO (Medic, Plasma Gunner, Standard Bearer, las gunner, Independent Commissar with PF and Refractor shield)
Anti-Tank Squad - 2 Lasconnon, 1 Missile Launcher)
Anti- Personnel (3 Heavy Bolters, Second unit 3 Auto Cannon)
Sentinel w/ Lascannon
Cannoness w/ 5 Celestians (Flamer, Storm bolter, Imagifer, Vet Superior with Plasma) mounted in an Immolator
Dominion Squad (4 Meltas, Vet Superior w/ Plasma)
Sister Squad to finish off the points.
Eldar
2 Wraith Lords
2 War locks
Farseer
Banshee
Phoenix Lord and retinue
Heavy weapons team (sorry don't know all the troop names)
Warp Spiders
Swooping Hawks
2 Sniper teams
warriors (?)
I was pretty surprised that he challenged me to begin with with out the mobility of any Falcons, but thought what the hay I'll play a fun game. Be a nice change to play on an 8' table instead of a 6' like usual at the GW store.
He deployed first with me taking second. Standard kill 'em all mission. He rolled and got first turn. I deployed with the standard bassie in each corner, Leman Russ in center board with the Hell hounds flanking, and Immolators all acting as mobile terrain pieces.
Since he was foot slogging it I knew my best defense against the Eldar would be to take the fight to him and get in close, but since I would also be slogging it I had to take advantage of the cover as well.
In the center of the table on my left Flank was a wooded hill, and to my right a ruined building with another ruined building in the middle where he infiltrated his 10 man sniper team (They would have to go immediately or at least ASAP).
He held the swooping hawks and Warp Spiders in reserve.
His first turn took out one of the Hell hounds and 1 Sister of Battle.
I was surprised at the amount of fire he laid down that he didn't punch any holes in the Immolators, and that he left the Sentinel alone.
My First turn. The Befuddled (the Right Flank Bassie tore a huge hole in his heavy weapon squad that he deployed across from my Bassie on the Left)
The CLueless (Bassie on my Left Flank) Landed on his Squad of warriors in the right flank of the board. I had moved the First Immolator up towards center board without deploying the Dominions, and the Cannoness in her Immolator also moved up the left center. Not yet close enough to the snipers to do any good. I'd hold and pray to the emperor that his next shooting phase went as well as his first.
My now lone Hellhound made a 6 inch move into no mans land and lad out a nice flame path over his heavy weapons team (Taking out most of them).
the Leman Russ Plowed ahead toward the center and laid a blast over his warriors situated in the ruined Earth Shaker emplacement in his deployment zone.
After the dust had cleared from my shooting phase the Eldar knew they were in it and it was going to be pretty deep.
2nd turn
No reserves this round, and not too much movements except for the Phoenix Lord and retinue coming out of cover and moving to engage the Sentinel. He moved his Banshees to the second ruins on my left flank center and made to immerse themselves into it.
As I was hoping his shooting phase wasn't all that impressive. He managed a total of one Ogryn, and one wound to another and three conscripts in total. During the first turn the conscript had started their move into the wooded hill, but not yet enough of them were in cover to give me a cover save. On a Glance he managed to immobilize the Dominion Squads Immolator on a glance. Considering his firing phase netted him only that many points it was well worth what I was looking for.
As expected his phoenix Lord assaulted the Sentinel ( yeah dead stuff) and he promptly used his sweeping advance to use the Sentinel wreckage for cover.
My turn I got more of the conscripts into cover, moved the Hell Hound up more and the Ogryn following behind. The Two immolators made their targets and disembarked. I continued to power up and throw myself into the battle. the Dominions disembarked and took up a nice fire position against the Banshee, the Cannoness and her Celestians disembarked so that they could get nice coverage on the snipers.
My firing phase netted me
1 sniper squad (anyone smell something burning?)
His Farseer and the rest of that squad
a squad of howling banshee thanks to the combined fire of the Dominion squad and the SOB behind them ( managed to gain rapid fire range). The Phoenix Lord's Retinue went bye bye leaving him alone thanks to the Clueless (Apparently she isn't so clueless after all) and my Heavy Bolter squad and the Auto Cannons. More of his warriors were also seeking the great beyond thanks to the Befuddled Leaving only his War Lock and Wraith Lord in that piece of cover. I was keeping a nice running track of the points at this point and knew that even with his Phoenix Lord pretty much going to have an unopposed hay day on my Right flank, he really wasn't going to net many points.
Turn 3
He moved his Phoenix Lord within assault range of the independent Commissar attached to my HSO.
His Swooping hawks deep struck on the Right Flank and the Warp Spiders hit the left flank (I was impressed his rolls were both dead on with no scatter).
His shooting phase was again not much different from his others. I lost a couple more Conscripts and almost the entire Dominion Squad (They already paid for themselves and since I had not yet used any faith points I kept the Vet Superior.). After the morale Test the Vet superior made a run for it (She was the only one in the squad now, and I knew I could force a rally by spending a faith point).
The Assault Phase. of course the Phoenix Lord went after the HSO squad and had to engage the Commissar. Poor girl never got a chance to do anything as the refractor shield failed to block the power weapon hits on three of the four strikes that hit. Although it did save the squad from having to take the blunt of the damage and it would delay him at least another turn while the Bassie and other heavy weapons on that side did more damage to his force.
My turn
First things First. A point of Faith and Light of the Emperor Rallied the lone Vet Superior (I needed her to Martyr and not run).
I continued to plug along the board forcing my troops further into his territory and making him react to what I wanted him to. The Warp Spiders were reduced to three members after the hell hound hit them, and the Sisters Made their way closer to the ruins.
My Platoon meanwhile had been following behind the Leman Russ was taking up a strategic position to deal with the Warlock and the Wraith Lord. The Cannoness and Celestians entered the ruins and set themselves to house keeping.
The Ogryn were following behind the Hell hound on the left flank and making some nice headway. While the Briar tar pit of my conscripts picked their way through the terrain (By now all that remained about 45 of them with commissar were relatively safe in the confines of the terrain). My tech priest was now in contact with the immobilized Immolator and next turn if all turned well it too would be able to make another rush towards his second set of snipers.
My Shooting phase was pretty good with the Clueless sending a volley across board and scattering into a group of warriors taking out 7 of them. His swooping hawks were reduced to one member.
Assault Phase. What a joke... The Phoenix Lord tore through my HSO with that power weapon like they were wearing paper armor and swept into my heavy bolter squad.
Turn 4
His warp spiders came out of hiding and set up an assault on the conscripts. The lone swooping hawk Set up for an assault against the immobilized immolator, and the Wraith Lord and war lock came out to deal with the other one.
The Shooting phase was pretty much non-Existent for him as he either didn't have LOS or wanted to go right into the assaults.
The Warp Spiders assaulted the conscripts, the Swooping hawk hit the immobilized Immolator and the Wraith lord hit the other..
Warp Spiders failed to wound, and the conscripts took out one of the spiders winning combat. With a yell of "Buy cookies now!" The consolidated into the remaining two spiders.
The Immobile Immolator was immobilized again, making it the second immobilization and destroying her. The Wraith Lord had little trouble destroying the other one, but only managed to hit it a single time.
The Phoenix Lord Started mop up operations on the Heavy Bolters (Killing all but two).
My turn
The Ogryn Moved into position to counter Assault the Warp Spiders
The Platoon continued to move to position around the Terrain to get a clear shot and hopefully some rapid fire in. The SOB Surrounded the lone Swooping hawk and leveled their bolters at him. The Tech Priest also came out to level a Plasma at him, and the lone Vet Superior readied her own Plasma pistol to just make sure.
With an impressive 28 shots from bolters, 3 Plasma shots (Both Vet superiors had plasma) He was hit a total of 17 times with two being Plasma wounding 13 times total. He failed 9 saves. The Warlock took 15 lasgun shots and wounded 9 times and also failed to make all his saves thus blinding the Wraith Lord.
Assault.
The Ogryn Assault the two Warp Spiders and using their Frags combat ensued at the same time. The Spiders managed to once again do nothing but end up being target practice as the girls tried out for the Amazonian Base Ball team using the spiders as batting practice. Of the 28 ripper clubs I managed to get in 15 hits and 15 wounds. The Conscripts swept 6" and the Ogryn also swept 6"
The two remaining Heavy Bolter girls of course died and the Phoenix Lord Swept 4 inches towards the Befuddled.
Turn 5
Phoenix Lord set up to charge the Befuddled, The Wraith made it's roll to move and set up to assault the cannoness, the second Wraith Lord finally decided to come out and play itself moving into position to take out the Leman Russ.
Again he didn't have much to shoot due to LOS and the chance to assault units.
Assault phase went something like this.
Waithlord killed one of the Celestians, Cannoness made Morale, and she and the remaining Celestian moved to engage Evisorator warming up, The Leman Russ never stood a chance and that wraith lord swept behind cover engaging the SOB inside of it. The Phoenix Lord destroyed the Befuddled and moved into the Wreckage for cover on the up coming shooting that he knew was coming his way from the Autocannons above him.
My turn.
Move The conscripts emerged fro the far side of terrain and the Ogryn came around the other side with the hell hound close on their heels.
I moved the lone Vet Sister to cap the Warlock with plasma shots, and the Clueless took on the remainders of his Flank where a bright lance was. The hell hound didn't have a clear shot. The Auto Cannon squad managed to do two wounds to the Phoenix Lord.
So, now we had two blind Wraith Lords, and both of them wounded one only had a single wound left (Due the befuddled's early shots and the Ensuing battle with the mob of SOB engaged with the other one.
both acts of faith on the Cannoness failed so I wouldn't be getting an invol with her, nor the additional strength. The faith for the Sisters engaged with the Wraith Lord took.
Remarkably the Cannoness and remaining Imagifer survived combat, as the other SOB.
Turn six
The Phoenix Lord moved to engage the AutoCannons, again they never stood a chance, the Wraith Lords again failed to make any sort of headway
My turn
My turn was an exercise in movement, and the combat didn't go too well as my Sisters couldn't do much, but the Tech Priest did engage the Wraith lord and also managed to wound the Wraith Lord with the Servo Power fist.
Final battle Tally
Eldar ended the game with 543 points left on the board
Amazonian's I figured out to be just under 1K left on board.
Solid Victory to the Amazionian's in a battle of Assault the Eldar.
