So, last time I played 40k was in... '98. Between then and now I picked up a box of Kasrkin somewhere along the way to paint up for some Necromunda goodness.
I mostly paint minis for the fun of it, and I found a couple of Vostroyan Snipers on the clearance rack at a gaming store near my parent's house when I was visiting. I pretty much fell in love right then and there. The gritty look of the future combined with the nostalgic uniforms works surprisingly well, I think. As such I convinced my mom to head up and snatch up anything on the rack listed as Vostroyan
Now, that little story leads up to my point. I'm thinking about getting back into 40k, and as such I want a new army. I've chosen IG, naturally. Vostroyan, specifically.
I figure I have these half-painted Kasrkin lying around, so there's a stormtrooper squad I can use if I convert them and paint them up. I stripped their paint off last night and they're all shiny and clean waiting to be converted. Only problem is, I'm a bit uninformed when it comes to the Vostroyan forces, aside from a small blurb on wiki.
What I have for thoughts so far:
Furry Hats - I could potentially put the furry hats on them, but it seems like I'd have to spend a ton of time shaving down their helmets for it to look right. Now, I do have the time to do it, it just seems like a project that I might end up giving up on half way through, which is something I don't want to do. Any helpful suggestions for something to do here would be much appreciated.
Fusing Armor Together - I figure I might be able to pull off the breast plate of the standard troops by filling in gaps on their rigid plating, not sure if it would looks good though.
Ornate Weaponry - I know in the wiki blurb I read, it mentioned their personal weapons are hand-crafted by kin, so I figure I'll take those gritty industrial-made hell guns and spruce them up a bit.
Tubing on the Re-breathers - I've considered putting 'scruntchy' tubing coming off the re-breather, much in the style of all the masked Vostroyans
So that's my plan thus-far. I know veritably nothing of Vostroyan fluff, so anything you can toss here that's relevant to the conversions would be awesome. Also any pictures you might have of minis converted to Vostroyans, or artwork would also be helpful. Thanks in advance.
