I have a squad of Ogryns (9 thus far) whom I love using as a counter-attack punch.
Wanting to beef them a bit, I am frustrated by the fact in Apoc you have Ogryn squads with a commissar .. but without the "Unattached Advisor" Doctrine (I am not using any doctrines currently) I am stuck. I have Commissars in all my HQ sections already ... but the rules list only infantry squads as the next level of option.
Any suggestions?

I can confirm that TB has indeed found the best option. TB I also found the following quote fasinating and thought I would share it with you:
plagiarist - noun: someone who uses another person's words or ideas as if they were his own.
I call you out on your honour, we will fight at a time of your choosing and a neutral location of your choosing. As the injured party I will select a weapon suited to our age and position - would you agree?
I choose to fight with 42" plasma screen TV's preselected to the history channel.
Please Acknowledge, Your servant. Suneokun.

I find it ironic that it's so hard to get a Commisar into an Ogryn Squad. In the original fluff, Commisars were the Ogryns favorite humans as they saw in them a direct connection to the Emperor. Not that they ever had a direct connection, but the Ogryns didn't know that!

Gaunt included give you 4 S4 power attacks a turn - nice. Additionally, I believe the restriction on Nork Deddog: Orgryn Bodyguard (http://uk.games-workshop.com/imperialguard/special-characters/assets/deddog.pdf) and quote "You may include Nork Deddog in your Imperial Guard army as a bodyguard fo the most senior ranking Officer. Nork is added to his command HQ and count as an extra member of the unit." However wouldn't Gaunt count as senior (certainly to a JSO CHQ), and while he doesn't have a command HQ (that's not his fault) you could therefore have Nork, 10 fearless Orgyrns and Commissar Gaunt. Wooohahahaha! What a points sink!
TB: I'd like an ajudication please...

You also could take Yarrick as a IC and assign him to the Ogryn with the same effects.
Suneokun in regards to Nork Deddog. Since we established that a commissar is not an official officer then commissar Gaunt would only be the most senior IF your HSO was ranked lower than a Colonal. Otherwise, Nork Deddog would have to go with the HSO.

thanks guys .. I try not to play with named characters .. or if I use them I rename them and urine purists off. I thought of adding Norkk to my Company commander ... call him something else ....
Am I correct in how they have Commissars in Ogryn squads in Armageddon? Silly that they have differing TO&E's in the same universe for different games ... annoying.

as far as my recommendation to take gaunt, it has indeed been mentioned recently by, I guess suneokun (I don't remember who mentioned it, only that hey, it was a good idea). so anyway, mandatory credit for the gaunt recommendation goes to suneokun. put down the plasma tv now ok suneokun?

He was recently re-added to the GW IG pages as available, but not "tournament official". I though of adding him to my HQ squad.

You have yet to read of the almighty power of the Lost and the Damned!!!! I too can bring the basilisks to the table with support of the defilers and Leman Russes, the Blood God shall have his fill with your puny little army, all shall kneel before mutants carring firearms (thats a joke)... In fact i think I finally found an army that shoots worse then IG... ;D

No worse, Chaos!!! The Lost and the Damned, its from the Eye of terror codex. Mutants shoot far worse with real poor weapons that get hot. its a complete themed army based on Khorn, with CSM support, and tratior guard. let the blood flow...
Ill still have my IG, SM, and INQ forces to play with though...

I like Ogryns rule-wise... but they don't fit in very well with my army's fluff of a tough well-disciplined Imperial force - a bit to rag-tag and rambo gung-ho in my humble opinion.
That said, I have looked into the possibility of using some Soviet Power-Troopers (from a different system which I can't remember) who look like soldiers in armoured jump suit things, which could work too.
