What is bst to take to make an effective infantry doctrine? I'm not looking for fluff or anything, just something effective to use.

effectiveness-
Close order drill-its free, and if they reach your gunline it gives an edge. Cameoline- 10pts, but an extra on that cover save and cheaper than carapace. Sharpshooters- not on regular infantry, only on the legions of heavy weapons teams Iron discipline- you aren't looking to move much, and its only 5pts per officer. Drop troops- hell, someone's gotta take those objectives. or- Stormtroopers- as above, but more survivable.

I agree though I'd throw in something like Rough Riders as well for taking objectives and holding back your enemy should they try to reach your lines.

Depends- if your using your veterans as gunline troops, you need something like rough riders or sentiels for the objective taking. However, if they are the objective grabbers, then make sure to drop them into cover or give them carapace armour, or they're dead.

Veterans are probably best used to be infiltrated into a hardened building, and just pummel away at the enemy. With the sheer number of weapons that they can have, they can be one hell of a nuisance.

Ratling snipers...spending 1 doctrine point on these guys are worth it. A full 10 man squad can help a gun-line hold the line! As we all know, these bad boys are awesome against high toughness monsters and good at pinning down anyone who wants to assault the line.
