hey guys, took alittle break from my commissar costume to do some smaller modeling, this is a modified engin-seer/tech priest combined with some necromunda and some iron kingdoms model parts (including the actual base model) i have wanted some tech priests in my guard army for awhile, but never gotten them, i am running a dark heresy rpg game for a few friends, and i made a tech priest named 'rasputin' to follow them around and offer aid with the tech of the warhammer world. doing so i convinced myself into believing i needed a model to represent, thus here he is.

Awsome model man! I can't wait to see some colours on this master of technology. Though I think you should give him a pistol more worthy of his status, at least a laspistol!

okay, almost done now, just need to work alittle on his feet and the cloth with the anhk on it coming from his waist. i'm kinda ticked off about this guy actually, i like him alot, but i used GW black primer for the first time, and its a totally different beast, the damn stuff clumps like a B@#*%! i feel the whole miniature would have come out better if it didnt look like i 'textured' him first.. :/ 10 bucks for over priced primer that i could have done better and cheaper with just a can of walmart spray. or by hand. a few points i liked, he has a scar on his face including a dead eye. huge purity seals on him, after i added some plasticard to the top of each of them. the model had prayer strips all over him anyway, so alittle red in key places really helped to make it more warhammer. the staff has a steam pressure valve, if you notice, including a red zone.

That looks lovely, you need to move the sun lower however so we can get a better look at the detail painting ... hehehe.

Hmm...it looks good but the painting looks...rough. I can't really put my finger on it.

the rough look is from the primer, he already said it came out all clumpy, I've never had that problem with thier primer, just gotta shake the bejeebus out of the stuff...also I think it starts to get clumpy once the can is nearly finished..its never a good idea to empty a can on a mini.

Next time you have the clumpy primer check to see if you didn't shake the rattle can enough first. If that doesn't clear the problem then you have to start suspecting that you just happened to get an old can. Paints don't last forever and do tend to clump when old.
One way to deal with this after spraying is to either do a complete strip, or just lightly sand the model.
otherwise you did a nice job on the techseer.

yeah, I usually spend a good amount of time shaking up a new can, dont know how long its been sitting when you get it so I just shake it till my arm starts to get tired, the first mini I even primered got a nice coat of texture from some grey primer I got from a local hardware store...been a bit paranoid about it ever since.

I've ruined too many minis with GW Black Primer so I won't use it at all. Cold weather, warm weather, wet weather, dry weather... new or old it doesn't seem to matter. I use sandable black primer from the Auto parts store. It's better, for me, in every way possible.

It looks very cool. That model is perfect for representing a Tech-priest.

Thats quite a cool model. Shame about the primer - I've never used Primer on any of my good models, and all the ones a do use it on turn out badly.
So, are you thinking of doing any servitors?
