Hellooo
Well firstly... hiya. Well, i havn't collect Warhammer for a good 3 + years now. But i've vaguely followed it, so i know, somthings, maybe. Recently, i decided to get back into it. Well, i say recently, two days ago to be precise. I went and bought a box of 20 Guardsman and dug out my old paints (threw away the nakered ones etc). I've collected Guard in the past, AddictiveWoz might remember me from Total Imperial Guard.... Commissar Elvive was my name.
I plan to make a 400pts combat patrol first, then bump it to 1000pts... and then beyond. I plan to make a blog of how i collect the army, but at the moment, my camera is out of action. I broke it on my travels in South Amerca. Hopfully my dads gonna fix it (the bloke can fix anything... i swear) because it want it for Uni in september! So what that means is, no pictures untill it's fixed Unless my webcam can take any worthwile pictures, which i doubt.
Anyway. Heres a bit of fluff that i've wrote up for the army i've decided to collect. At the bottom i will put my doctrines and the 400pts list. Criticism and help is appreciated and wanted! Please bear in mind i havn't played for years!
Verlonnia
Verlonnia is a medium sized world situated some where I’ve not yet decided. Verlonnia surface is dotted with Hive cities of varying size. In between these sprawling developments are vast mercilessly hot deserts of ash and sand. Mountain ranges rip through the surface of the planet and reach towards to the sky at varying points across the otherwise relatively flat surface of the planet. Verlonnia has only 1 large ocean and a smattering of smaller Oases deep in the desert.
Verlonnia is famous within its sector for its skilled glass making craftsman who make use of the copious supply of sand. Their exquisitely decorated crafts are highly sort after by Nobility all across the sector. However, of more use to the Imperium are Verlonnia’s rich mineral veins which run through out the planet. The mining guilds rigorously control access to these veins and exploit the minerals and stones for all they are worth. Along with the merchant guild, they made Verlonnia wealthy.
The Hive cites are guarded by the steadfast and battle trained Verlonnian PDF. The PDF has protected the Hive Cities from any off world threats and from the Nomad raiders who live deep in the deserts. When ever a mining convoy leaves a hive, they do so under escort by the PDF.
As plentiful as the mineral veins are, a few hundred years back the surface strands became increasing difficult to find. As such, Verlonnia could no longer completely pay is planetary tithe to the Imperium with minerals alone. The Imperium therefore demanded they pay it with men, and so, the first Verlonnian regiments were raised.
The Verlonnian regiments follow the same training regimes as the Planetary Defence Forces. Given the strength and skill of the PDF, this is no bad thing. Undergoing stringent drill for both combat and marksmanship they make excellent soldiers. The skills of field craft are not ignored either. The best recruits under go further training.
The Mining Guild is currently making progress towards the deeper seated mineral veins to boost production once more. There are rumours that they may have stumbled across oil. But the ever greedy Mining Guild refuses to confirm this. There is a divide within the Hives currently as to weather Verlonnia should progress with mining or move to becoming an industrial planet, a motion that has a lot of support within the merchant sector.
Doctrines:
Close Order Drill- Verlonnian tactical doctrine dictates that the Verlonnian army fights as one. This can only happen if a Squad also learns to fight at one. Hence they are drilled to fight as a single unit.
Iron Discipline- The Officers are schooled extensively. They are trained using the same programmes as the enlisted men before moving onto Officer training. As such, they have the complete faith of their men, once their trust is earned.
Sharpshooters- Infantry Support Weapon operators undergo advanced training with their weapons, and as such, they become highly proficient with them.
Grenadiers- If a man shows skill, bravery and imitative on the field of battle he could be recommended for a transfer to the Grenadier Corp by his Commanding Officer. These men receive further training and become the elite edge of the army.
Veterans- The experience core of the regiment.
Combat Patrol:
Junior Officer- Leuitenant Stanhope
iron discipline, bolt pistol
Missile launcher, 2 grenade launchers. 77pts
Squad 1- Autocannon, plasma gun- 85pts
Squad 2- Autocannon, plasma gun- 85pts
Squad 3- Autocannon, grenade launcher- 83pts
Sentinel- Autocannon, ACC, extra armour- 70pts
Oh, on a side note. My chosen scheme is black undercoat. heavy dry brush fatigues codex grey, so it looks very dark. Armour is given several layers of scab red and highlighted ish (Never was a good painter, but im trying this time around) with blood red. I really like it. Nice contrast and Hive World Troopers don't need to be camoflauged. Sergeants have left shoulder pad painted skull white then bleached bone.
I'm thinking Officers will have both pads painted in the bone colour... or maybe left pad with red stripe... or left pad and helmet is bone. Anyhow.
Painted 4 guys so far... assesembled 6. I'm slow
