Forgive my simpleness- Pintle mounted weapons... remote operated? or does that count as open topped aswell? The rules in 'infantry firing from vehicles', as far as I can see, says that the usual open-topped forfeit you suffer the turn after firing from within a closed vehicle doesnt count for guns such as the Chimera's lasguns or pintlemounted weapons.
So whacking a pintle- heavy stubber on my closed-hatched Chimera is all good? Yay or nay?
Thanks!

Using pintle weapons doesn't make the vehicle open topped.

none of the guard vehicles in the normal game except bassies count as open topped unless your firing out of the back hatch of the chimera. all men standing in or firing from the copula (the hole where the commander stands) do not count towards changing the status of the vehicle

All sentinels are open topped unless given the closed compartment upgrade.

also, pintle mounted weapons are NOT penalized vs. flyers (which typically have AV10) so you are NOT looking at having to be within a foot to hit a flyer with your pintle mounted weapons - you can hit them from any regular range. this is neat if you want some long shots vs. flyers (6's to glance, but hey, immobilization seems good vs. an AIRCRAFT ). I struggle to think of a vehicle that is lightly armed where sacrificing it's normal guns to fire the stubber at aircraft would actually be worth it though... this is, ofcourse, according to forgeworld rules, which may well be overridden with planetstrike whenever that comes out.

check the apoc rules turtle. The only weapons that I remember not having the penalty are those that are actually rated as anti-aircraft like the Hydra.

Some weapons can have an AA upgrade so they don't have any penalties when shooting at aircraft.
