Well had a nice fathers day gift, the wife let me go to a tournament.
Yeah!!!
Anyhow, out of the 14 players I did place for best themed army.
All games were for 1850pts.
First game was against Necrons.
Initial deployment was in a ten inch "L" formation on one board corner. You were only able to deploy the compulsory "Troops". Everything else came in from reserve starting second turn.
My initial deployment was 50 conscripts and 45 guards men (two troop choices being conscripts and infantry platoon of 4 squads w/ gl and a jso). Problem is my opponent was way the freak on the other corner so I had to start high tailing it out of the deployment zone in order to make room for what was yet to come. Good thing too, since all but 1 Bassie and my HSO did not make it in on the first reserve roll.
The Necron player brought in his Lith in his first reserve roll and dropped it inside my deployment zone. During my shooting phase I hit it with three Las-cannon which did nothing, but remove one attack, and a Missle Launcher who deserves a freaking medal for taking the blasted thing out with a single shot (Rolled three 6's on the same die).
The rest of the game was a slugfest over objectives.
At the end of the game I was awarded 6 points (plus full sportsmanship) my opponent, was awarded 17 for the win.
Second Game
Black Templar
My opponent used a rhino push to get close, but he paid a heavy toll for his efforts. The conscripts rushed his units (Including the Emporers champion) and held the ground for 4 rounds taking out three marines in the process. Note squads with PF hurt conscripts.
In the end My opponent had only two scoring squads, and one scoring vehicle.
The entire game was also a slugfest and the marines paid heavily.
Again, I was awarded 5 points my opponent was awarded 16
Game 3
Orks.
By a fluke of nature, we played a game of rescue the hostage. The Orks were the defended and the Amazonian's were the attackers. The only reason for this was that the orks had NO fast attack choices (cheese anyone?).
Opening volley took out his command transport forcing Gazgull to foot slog it from his 18" deployment vs. my 12"
I ended up disabling most of his vehicles bite, or totalling the vehicle out completely in first turn. He managed to get a first turn assault with two of his buggys. He was using 12-15 man squads, but the game ended up being a complete barroom brawl I even managed to put two wounds on Gazgull. Snikrot came out on turn 4 and of course he started going through the heavy weapon teams and vehicles with his boyz.
If we had one last turn I would have been able to turn it into a win, but we ended after 5 turns due to time being called.
I managed to hold one table quarter he only held two. No one had control of the hostage.
again 6 points for the game opponent was given 16
IN each of the games yes the girls lost, but everyone walked away after knowing that they had been in a pitched battle. No one was able to just stop the girls in their tracks. All the games were very tight and hard fought by all.
