Hi guys and girls, I juct purchased this model: And I want to produce a duel scene as a side project. Im after some ideas for an opponent. I was thinking along the lines of something evil, as steel legion guard are known to stand their ground, fight and die in the face of fear and evil. Thanks, trid.

i too have been wanting to make a duel diorrama. personally, i think that since your dealing with a relatively weak character, as far as armor, weaponry and experience wise, you should choose a suitable opponent. what would be really neat, since he looks like hes about to slice a head off of another soldier, would be to maybe have an ork, or a smaller sized creature on the ground, kneeling, with his hands bound and that dude about to behead him. just a thought.

I love the idea of an execution retroshark.
I was actually think more along the lines of a massive canifex screaming and drooling over his next prey. With the guardsmen standing upon a pile of rocks so he is almost eye to eye wth the carni, readying himself to strike death in the face???
What do you all think?

Or standing or a ruined chimera, but i think that would throw the cost of the project up a fair bit.

try one of those dark eldar witches, their poses often sleek, agile as if dancing.....coud work really nice, not too strong, not too weak in terms of a dual? gud luck finding out

Keeping in with the fluff, an Ork in a pose of rushing with a 'uge choppa hefted over his head would be a good piece to work with. It would give the appearance that the guardsman was waiting for the chance to get a throat shot before the Ork made his strike.

I like the idea of this guy taking on an opponent that could clearly take him out, but the tough bastard bravely brandishes his sword overhead and make a difiant gesture.(while praying the dice gods are good to him)
so yeah, carifex would be cool, I'm still voting for ork nob or warboss, steel leigon and all.

skywalker. the enemy is skywalker.
seriously, I'm with ymmot on this, he should be fighting someone that out classes him. When do imperial guard fight someone who doesn't outclass them in hand to hand (tau don't count, they use Kroot for close combat). you might want to rotate the out stretched hand so it is palm up, and then bring the fingers up, like the mortal kombat "come get some" hand gesture. Fighting a Carnifex single handed, almost courageous if it wasn't so stupid and suicidal.

a demon, one of the new bloodletters
or something bigger and badder
seriosly demons outclass him, giving the fight a sort of heroic ellement, pluss whats scarrier than a demon

I'm not mad on the Carnifex idea, I'd have a suitably looking 'uge Ork with loads of severed heads as trophies, Mega armour perhaps. Just make him look scary!

definately a tyranid carni, it would look insanely amazing to see a brave (if not some insanely stupid) guardsman standing and fighting against impossible odds
