Tamiya's 1:35 WWII U.S. backpacks work great, as well as Tamiya or Dragon's 1:35 German bread pouches(Dragon is higher quality but more expensive).

Back-packs sound easy to make out of Green stuff. Give it a go, I expect they'll be easy to pull off.

I would suggest the catachen backpacks as a way to go.
Se if your firends have some laying around or attend a local bits trade. If there isn't a local bits trade get with the store of your choice and see how you can go about making on. Most often they go with in store credit to keep the money in the store.

Forge World has resin back packs on their Cadian upgrade sprue. They look pretty sharp.

I put Cadian backpacks on ALL the guys in a recent IG force I'm almost done with - - 114 of them. Everyone has the right suggestions, Warstore, eBay, Bartertown.

The catachans VOX CASTER looks great as Backpack, if you remove the antena and place it on a Cadian for example it could remember the Rebel Snow troops from star wars (or rebel guerrilla) this could work but could be expensive.
