I'm gonna continue this later... I have allready begun to pen some more. Without further ado, here it comes -
Private Mitzskaven stared in disbelief as his unit was torn apart by the fire from the Xenos scum. Instinctively following his training he ducked for cover, hiding behind what was a building, now merely a single story rubble strewn mess. He saw, but didn’t hear above the deafening rage of the Xenos weaponry, his sergeant shout something to him. He never found out what he was saying as a well placed sniper beam passed straight through his sergeant’s head, killing him instantly. He fell to the floor, blood pouring out of his wounds. Mitzskaven felt sick. He forced himself to look away from the dead body of his sergeant.
He surveyed his immediate surroundings for better cover, as he had been trained to do those many years ago at training camp. He saw a two storey building just 10 feet away from him. Picking up his lasgun he took a tentative look round the corner of the building he was currently behind. Upon seeing no enemy he ran as quickly as he could towards the building, diving behind it.
Next to him he saw the dead body of another unit’s vox operator, its speaker still blaring out orders.
“Squad Delta please respond, this is Command Base Gamma” an officer said from the other end. Five seconds later it came again.
“Squad Delta, this is Command Base Gamma, please respond” the officer repeated. After another five seconds, it came again, this time more urgently.
“Squad Delta, please respond NOW!” The officer shouted. Mitzskaven looked around the dead vox operator for some kind of device with which to respond. Overhead he heard the roar of a squadron of Marauder bombers flying out into battle. He saw where the microphone was kept - inside the vox casters helmet. He slowly removed the dead Guardsman’s helmet and spoke into the receiver.
“Hello?” Mitskaven answered, he was unsure of the correct responses.
“Squad Delta, this is Command Base Gamma, the order has been given for a full retreat to the nearest evac area.” The officer instructed.
“Where’s that?” Mitzskaven asked.
“Pick the closest one from your holo-map.” The officer ordered. “The planet will be cleansed in 20 minutes. That is all.” With that the static tone of the vox pack faded, then left completely.
“nuts!” Mitzskaven screamed, frantically looking around for something that may be an evac area. He saw a troops lander fly over head and land around five hundred meters away. Picking up his lasgun he ran full throttle towards the next piece of cover and dived behind it. He heard the ringing of shots hit the back of the ruined building in which he found shelter. He knew that he must keep moving as the enemies firing at the building were going to advance on him pretty soon.
He saw his next chance of cover ahead of him… a building in a much better condition than the one he was hiding behind and was raised high upon a hill. He peaked round to see if all was clear for his run. He saw around five Xenos milling around along the top of the road, not paying particular attention to their surroundings.
Offering a silent prayer to the Emperor, Mitzskaven ran as fast as he could. He heard shots ring out behind him as the Xenos shot at him. A sniper beam passed just in front of his face, he felt the heat of it as passed him. He was halfway there… All he needed was ten more seconds… Ten more seconds fate wasn’t going to give him.
He felt a sharp pain as a sniper beam passed straight through his right leg. He fell to the ground screaming in pain. Instinctively he grabbed his leg and formed the fetus position. As he lay screaming the firing stopped, he turned his head towards where the firing had been coming from. He saw a tall figure making his way towards him at an unnatural pace. In one hand he held some kind of pistol and in his other, a long staff with a spear tip at the top.
Mitzskaven realized how dangerous his situation was. He tried to move his body upwards, but found he couldn’t. The Xenos with the staff was now no more than one hundred meters away and gaining rapidly. Mustering all his strength he tried again to move upwards, but his body did nothing in response. The Xenos was now around fifty meters away. Panicking Mitzskaven tried to do something, anything, to get away from the figure who was striding towards him. The Xenos was now only ten meters away, and it was too late for Mitzskaven to do anything
“Do not move Mon’Keigh, you are unable to do so” The Xenos spoke almost as if in song “We are sorry we had to shoot you.”
For a moment Mitzskaven lay transfixed upon the graceful body of the Xenos, all his hatred forgotten. He felt clumsy and oafish compared to the beauty and grace of the Xenos. Abruptly he remembered himself, he hated Xenos. He offered a prayer of forgiveness, for allowing himself to be distracted, to the Emperor.
“Sorry you had to shoot me?” Mitzskaven responded after his full minute of silence.
“Yes. However it was necessary to stop you.” The Xenos replied without expression.
“Stop me? From doing what?” Mitzskaven shouted.
“Leaving” It replied.
“I don’t care… This planet will be cleansed soon and all of you bastards will be dead” Mitzskaven spat.
“What you say is only partially true. This planet will be cleansed. We however, will not be killed along with it.” The Xenos spoke in the same graceful voice he had used. “Shaltra, Shael, take the Mon’Kiegh to the gate. I shall join you there.”
With that, two tall Xenos appeared as if from no-where in a flash of light. They walked over to him and picked him up – not to forcefully, nor lightly. He tried to struggle, in vain, as his body still wasn’t responding to his commands.
When they had walked around twenty meters away from where the Xenos with the staff stood, he heard the two Xenos holding him say something in an enchanting a graceful language. He saw a flash of white light surround him. All around him was a swirling red tunnel of either gas or liquid, Mitzskaven was unsure. He had been here before, or somewhere similar at least, during the journey to the planet, what had Sgt. Haldan called it? Mitzskaven felt sick when he realized where he was. He was being dragged unprotected by two hostile Xenos inside the Warp! He emptied the contents of his stomach and then all went black…
