Ok guys combat story. I was challenged by a guy at the GW store here in Novi. He offered to bring 1750 of his guard against any list I wanted to bring of my at 1750.
We rolled up a dawn of war games and had 3 objectives on the table. I used a modified Shaffer's list of the following Shaffer Kage 20 specialist armed with melta's, melta bombs, Carapace, and Power swords. 5 Ogryn 2 Hellhounds LR with HB sponsons, and Lascannon topping off the List with 2 Bassie with Indirect fire.
I rolled first turn and choose to keep everything in reserve as the option for Shaffers list is that we can go full drop troops.
He brought a beautfully painted Tarllan Guard with old school Sentinels. Really an honor to play against such a army painted at such a high standard.
My first turn I pulled on my vehicles and Ogryn onto the field from the board edge (per the scenerio rules) and using the Bassie's optional LOS rule proceeded to blow holes in his vehicles. My LR also started in doing the same.
End result of first turn was that he had only a single Vanquisher that was mobiler that was a real theat, and two sentinels. no troop losses (yet). Most of his other vehicles were either disabled, wrecked, or immobilized.
His first turn he succeeded in immobilizing my two hell hounds.
My second turn I started dropping in a majority of my force. (I rolled well for reserves). At the end of my second turn he was down to one sentinel and only the the vanquisher (still). Now it was time to feel some pay back from his troops. (yeah right. Carapace is great).
Needless to say we ended up playing a full 7 rounds. We ended the game with my not being able to kill his vanquisher, and he only had maybe 12 troop models on the board. The next table where he placed his wounded looked like a way point with troops waiting to get into the fight. I suffered only 10 troop losses, but since he had one objective, and we had two others contested the game fell to his hands.
Had we been playing kill points, or any other scenerio he conceded that he would have lost the game.
All in total it was a game of 32 models against 175
super fun game. Looking forward to playing him again. I have a 10K game on Friday. I'll brief you guys on the outcome of the girls big battle against another guard unit.

Ok so here goes....
We were slated to meet up as close to 3pm as we could get, but due to work schedules my opponent didn't show up until just about 7pm. We had the store until midnight so that wasn't going to be too much of a problem. Folks did take pics so we should have some interesting enough shots later once they post them.
I had my 10K he had his 10K. Both armies were staged on another table to make deployment faster. He bid 7 minutes, I bid 1. I needed to insure that I had first turn. My Strategic asset was Careful planning.
My deployment went like this.
Done.
remarkably he was able to field a bucket load of his armor on the board within the time frame.
From memory he had: 3 Manticore 1Hydra 1 Vulture 2 Thunderhawks 3 griffin 13 Vanquishers 10 Leman Russ 9 Sentinels 9 chimera 3 demolishers
Round one was simple. I pulled my Russ and Bassie out onto the table as well as my Shadow Sword, and started lighting up.
Thanks to the special IA rule sets not much was lost on his side and in fact much of the damage a normal game without those special rules I would have had a much better round of firing. so, not one to cry about something like that and had I had them available to me I would have done the pretty much the same thing.
The new LOS rules for the bassie shooting helped a lot in keeping some of his tanks from being able to do what they needed to.
When the dust settled he was down to 1 sentinel that was mobile and had all of its weapons and the other two had only hunter killer missles.
His turn on brought me a bit of hurt. I lost a couple bassie, and he concentrated so much fire power (5 Vanquishers, 3 Demolishers, and several of the leman russ) on "daddy's Girl" (One of the baneblade) she ended the turn going up in a 12" Apocolyptic explosion taking out one leman russ and a single Bassie with her.
My turn two brought in Saffer, and a majority of his specialist. two units were delayed entry and two had major catastrophies during the drop. those that came in did alright for themselves. by the end of the turn he was down to one Demol, 2 griffen, and several vehicles that were going to be a bit difficult to do much with.
We only played a total of three turns and my cannoness truly earned herself a special job to say the least. at the end of the game she had taken 4 vanquisher rounds and two pie plates to the face. All of which she managed to ke her saves against.
His third round ended with the total all out chimera rush which captured him two of the objectives with the third being contested by the cannoness. The final outcome ended with a single die role. I needed to make a leader ship of a ten and ended throwiing an 11.
All in all it was a fun game for everyone in the store.
Edit: It should be that my opponent had to borrow two thirds of his army to bring up the points of his own to match mine.

Ok 1K leader board game today.
Mission secure and control, deployment table quarters.
The girls got up to a good game today. After losing the roll for table sides and deployment order I let my opponent set up his tanith 1st and only. right from the start he was outnumbered by just about 3:1. I set out my two troop choices, a hell hound and my trusty Bassie "Clueless". The girls lined up and in true girls gone wild fashion proceeded to flash the opponent and as they men were gawking they stole the initative and took first turn (Yes, I rolled a 6 to steal the turn from my opponent).
I left one squad on the objective in my deployment zone and made a b-line for my opponents which he had completely surrounded with his 35 men.
I know for a fact that he had cameoline and sharpshooter for doctrine, but not sure what else he had. Just know he had a lot of Missile launchers.
the opening round for him did not pan out well. He lost a squad of ten to the flames of the hell hound and several more from the Bassie. Since I had Warrior weapons and chem inhalers, I gave up a lot of my range with the las-gun, but in the end it was well worth it.
The game lasted 5 turns and ended in a draw with him only have a total of 7 models on the board, and the Amazonian's having lost only 9 conscripts during the entire battle.
The game was probably the most one sided battle I have ever seen. We played out the 6th turn to just get an idea of what would have happened.
Looking forward to my next opponent of chaos next time I play

Full Table just after I used careful planning to pull on my force. Just before the first shots were fired.

Hmmm.. that reminds meof my pet peeves of apocalypse games- there arefew boards large enough to have a really good, fun game. Too often it degenerates into a mindless slogging match, wreathed in a hail of dicerolls and casualty removals.
My ideal table for apoc- two 6' by 4' tables joined at one of the long edges. 8' by 6' of easy-to-manevere in terrain-heavy death.

Alright, As the emperor's dagger commander of the 2nd regiment the ladies of the Amazonian LXIX encountered a necron force. The infernal mockery that they pose to life of any Imperial citizen is enough reason to destroy them on sight. I am happy to report that this forward force has been stopped in their tracks and have been pushed back from the planets surface. We can only hope that their transports were taken care of by the imperial navy. May the Emperor guide their aim.
This battle was an Annhilation game with Spearhead deployment. The ladies of the amazonian LXIX took first turn and my opponent failed to steal the initiative. This 1750 game utilized a modified Schaffers force/conscript mania list.
We lasted 5 turns having destroyed enough of the Necron force to achieve a final victory. The imperial Basilisk aim was true during the shooting phase and my opponent was truly taken by surprise when the Schaffer troops started to hit the board. I think that the fact that they were armed with Melta's took him a moment to get used to as his cron warriors fell in droves before the might of the Imperial forces.
Singing the praise and litanys of the Emperor, the conscripts held their own in the face of grave danger. The courageous girls took on a necron after having destroying a scarab swarm that was larger than any that they could have imagined. To Commissar alexandra's delight the girls held strong even when the squad took casulties that would make normal infantry blanch. While they were depressed that their cookie sales were low, they did manage to whittle the squad down to 4 warriors before Schaffer was able to lend a hand with 5 of his specialist.
As a side note. Several power weapons were recovered from the battle field and have been returned to their proper owners. How these sacred weapons managed to find their way to the battle field will remain a mystery.

WOW! I had a great game just about 2 hours ago. 1200 points Guard Vs Eldar.
My list: HSO power fist laspistol and then a commissar lascannon. Then the rest of my list was 2 platoons 2 squads in each, 1 with flamer, 1 with GL, both with HB. 2 Bassies an LR and a HellHound.
So I got first turn, went ahead firing my HB at whatever they could hit. Scored 2 kills with all of em. lascannon missed the Wraithlord. So first Bassie shot was indirect and hit the wraithlord because of a scatter. Second bassie took 7 Striking Scorpions from their ten man squad. LR took a dire avenger squad and hell hound wasnt in range.
He goes, everything moves except pathfinders which shot, hit twice, I made both cover saves, and passed pinning.
My turn again. HB fire destroys the rest of the DA squad, and kills a pathfinder. LR plops another wound on the wraithlord. Hellhound burns a firedragon squad down to its exarch, and bassies demolish a reaper squad and almost killed the wraithlord.
he goes, destorys the inferno cannon on my hell hound, and snipes a guy off of a tower.
I go, killing the wriathlord with my lassies, killing two more pathifnder with HB's, killed the firedragon exarch, put some holes in the last DA squad, and kill the striking scorpions.
He quits I win, with one casualty and a vehicle that needs a refiting.

Well we did a three way today. One army consists of Genestealers and orks, the other (me) with guard and another with marines. Naturally as the guard I was stuck between the other two. SO i have to fight my way out to capture any objectives, and the only way to do that (seeing as I had last turn) would be to win alot of melee. And amazingly enough, the Cadians prevailed destroying the tyranids with bayonets. Its true in every combat, I either tied, or won against the orks and nids in melee. The marines I shot to hell. It was a good day for the 4th.
Herioc Senior Officer Kyrt Fuylon also succeded, in destroying two ork Warbosses, identities unknown, and a Brood lord. Cadian 117th holdes there own, despite slight platoon rate casualties.
