I've got plans on buying a griffon (cheap) and then convert it a bit to make a bassilisk...
Do you think that it could be a good idea? Or should i just buy it and hope that it reappears in the new codex?

its totally up to you, but i wouldnt count on it reappearing, since the marines are gonna get more stuff, they wont be able to squeeze in the griffon

im not denying that, im just saying that they will not have enough room in the store for the griffon if all of the marine kits come in, they allready take up 25% of ALL store space over here

i hear the guard codex is going to have 22 vehicles in it. so the griffon will probably be one

whats with you and saying store space? i heard it from a red shirt. it might not be accurate, they do make mistakes. but i'm fairly confident that its true, i heard it from several different ones at different times. if it makes them profit i don t see why they wouldnt want to sell stuff. they'll find room for it if they think it would sell. it might also be an attempt to bolster internet sales and forgeworld sales.

well, they could make a special kit say, imperial guard artillery that comes with the options of making a griffon or bassie, or a leman russ kit with the spruces to make an exterminator or a demolisher or vanquisher

Chimera Chassis:
Chimera, Hellhound, Basilisk, Griffon, Salamander, Bombard, Medusa, Hydra, Manticore
LR Chassis:
LR MBT, LR Demolisher, LR Exterminator, LR VAnquisher, LR Annihilator, LR Executioner, LR Destroyer, LR Conqueror, LR Thunderer
Sentinals
All together that gets me to 19 and as you can see I already digged up highly specialised tanks from the FW range. So its highly doubtable that they get 19 different vehicles at all...

I doubt that they will add the Baneblade for non-Apocalypse games.
The Valkyrie is a good point and would make it 20 vehicles. Add the Vulture Gunship in plastic too and we have 21. Just leaves another free slot...

What for? No others would have fliers without FW. Vultures and Valkyries can be used as skimmers as they're more like helicopters than fliers.

yeah they are, but the baneblade still counts as a guard vehicle so you can just shush.

Well, back to the main topic...
I'd say just keep the Griffon. You never know what'll happen until we start seeing some more confirmed info concerning the new IG codex. Just hope that you can use it! If you can't, you can always just COUNT it as a bassie, or just throw it into an Apocalypse game...
I just think the Griffon looks awesome in my opinion...

Add the Baneblade and you'll have to add the other SHTs...
And yes keep the Griffon. Its a good tank and if there will be really that many vehicles in the codex the Griffon will be one of the first as many people still have the old model. Same goes for the Exterminator btw...
