I am trying to make an Imperial Guard army based on elite guys (as noted in my previous thread, Imperial Guard marines). But I want to give them an old school feel. I'm already going to use some WWII style german soldier heads with netted helmets, cigars, beards, etc. But I also want their weapons to look old school too.
Does anyone have a link to a website where I could purchase something like an M1 Garand or Carbine, without any attatched arms, so that I could model it onto my guardsmen?
Or, if you don't know that, then a conversion guide?

go to your local hobby shop and look for US weapon accessories from either dragon of tamiya, they have several weapons there including mortars, bazookas, and MGs

Or try ebay; I've seen some pretty sweet 1:35 scale men of the Soviet Army complete with various weapons arms accessories; amazing.

yeah I really like the U.S army B.A.R, and I'll probably use it as a pintel heavy stubber (only, it won't be pintel, really...) for my tanks.
The sergeants will get m1-carbines, counting as storm bolters, and the regulars will be armed with m1-garands, if I can figure out a way to model them into their hands correctly and make them look good.
Or, I may just use the m1-carbine and the thompson. either way, they'de look really cool!
