tactically? Depends on which game you are playing. If you are in an apoc game sure. great idea. A friendly game under 3K probably not the best solution on the table.
Here is why.
While you are able to lay out plenty of templates the front and side armor is so weak that you will loose your ability to fire early in the game. It is best to have other hard targets as well that can soak more punishment than the Bassie is able to.
Currently you have to look at what are the hard targets that people fear most.
In my area it goes something like this. Hell hounds Bassie LR - Demol LR- Standard Chimera Sentinels
While I still field pretty much everything I know they are going to shoot at I don't just field them in singles where possible.
Hell hounds are FA so I take two. I normally take 2 Bassie and a LR varient (Reason is for board coverage. one in each corner and if need be I can move and fire directly else, they are indirect fire only).
The bassie is one of the finest vehicles we have, but the armor is pretty thin and I wouldn't want you to loose them so quickly. If that is the only armor your enemy has to punch through then you are not giving yourself the fighting chance.
If you are playing Apoc. I'd field ten with the chimera and ten LR. Along with as many super heavies that you can get your hands on.

For non apoc games i prefer straight up LR's and all there awesome variants, as I run straight A.C. i might soup them up with some doctrines.
Apoc games, deal out the Bassies as you can NEVER have too many templates thrown at the enemy, especially at its str and ap
