Agred. There's a dollar king right down the street from my house...
Anyway, I think plastic Mordians would be awesome, becuase after I sat down and wrote my fluff, I realized that I wanted my officers to look unique...and damn, to the Mordians look unique!

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't Praetorians be pretty easy to convert from plastic Mordians? Just need to change the hat to a helmet and maybe add a few bandoliers.
I'm surprised Forge World doesn't just come out with head or body sets for conversions for other regiments. They do it with smurf shoulder pads. Heck, they have elyssian respirators, but they can't just make a little mordian head with a hat?

On bell of lost souls a post for 'confirmed' guard releases in may said that cadians are coming in new 10 man boxes and the catachans are coming in new 10 man boxes as well. Also that plastic command squads would be coming out. So maybe their will be some general parts in those boxes that can make a bunch of differnt regiments. Like maybe in the catachan box their wil be enough parts to make a couple of differnt light infantry/forest fighting specialist's. Maybe with the cadian box sets as well, great coats, dress uniforms and fancy hats!

That would be very cool, but I dont think GW will be quite that kind to the IG. They might put out a separate box conversion like they did for some of the SMs. If we are lucky.

I'd start a Guard army if they released plastic Tallarn, maybe with space-camel Rough Riders. And possibly some sort of desert-preacher Commissar. I mean, I can't be the only one who's thinking this. I'd buy at least enough for a Combat Patrol they day the came out.

I would be up for 500pts of Tallaran, but if they ever release plastic Steel Legions, I'm buying at least 1500pts worth.

1500 pts of steel legion wouldn't be enough. You would have to get an apoc army worth. Mordians would be pretty cool. The chances though of this happening slim to none. I think you have a better chance of monkeys flying out your ass doing back flips through a houla hoop thats on fire than getting those old models in plastic.

Praetorians were basically Mordians with different heads. Look like British Colonial Troops from India. If another type of Guard gets done in Plastic, my money's on Greatcoats of some kind, followed by some sort of Light Infantry type thing in the style of the Tallarn or Tanith. Dress Uniform types like the Mordians/Praetorians will be last if ever.

You guys are still talking about this?!? Good grief! It's clear that there's not gonna be any plastic mordians! And there's not gonna be any converison pack! GW doesn't like Imperial Guard enough to do that!

Well, Praetorians just looked awesome. If you look at Broomhead's avatar, or picture what British Colonial troops looked like during the Zulu Wars or Sepoy Rebellion, those are what the Praetorians looked like. They were just.... Cool. They had the testicular fortitude to wear Pith helmets and bright red uniforms on the battlefields of 40k.
Say, does anybody know what their doctrines were?

Beats me, but my guess would be: Iron Disc., Close Order, Sharpshooters (because GW used to think that doctrine was actually useful), Heavy weapon platoons (becuase it seems very "colonial"), and somethin' else, most likely useless as the others. You know, looking back at them now, I'm kinda glad doctrines are going out the window...they never really were economical to begin with other than iron discipline, close order drill, and grenadiers, to name a few.

Praetorians were already out of production by the time 4th ED came out. So, they had no dedicated DOCS.

I think if they advertised it right they could get away with a conversion pack. Get a standard sprue with a few different heads (gas mask, fancy hat, bald with glasses) and then a few different chest/torso pieces. Base the box around the torso (who needs extra heads, Chaos proved that) and show on the back of the box all the different styles you can make.
Hell, I would buy for my steel legion army a whole slew of types. A light infantry box for some scouts and fancy heads for sergeants. It would be a great way to get a unit of Vets into your army.
Oh well, a man can dream about a plastic Steel Legion and the ease of conversions....
