Conversion Idea

I came up with a pretty good idea for an Imperial Guard conversion for my soldiers. I won't have picks for a few more weeks, but here is the idea, purchasing several bits from the war store web site, and using several boxed kits.

cadian flak armor bodies, catachan legs, arms, and equipment. Cadian helmeted heads (officers will have some random and assorted unique heads, like Empire bearded flagallent heads to make them look BA) plasma guns for the special weapons.

My storm troopers will look very similar, except they will use the SM scout bodies, with tau fire warrior back packs and an old head phone cord attached to their rifle and pack to look like the hell guns on the metal models. They will also have some cooler heads to make them look like hardened veteran killers, and tau photon grenades to be like flash bangs.

I've thought about doing the scout thing since I saw someone over at BOLS do it for the Macharian campaign. It looks pretty cool, and that phone cord idea is pretty sweet.

As to the war store, I suggest getting all of it (bits and all) at once. Yeah, it's a pain to call them and order, but it only takes 3-4 days for you order to arrive, so it's cheaper and almost as quick as ordering from GW. (I live in Northern VA too, so I know) and then you can do all the conversions at once. Also, Catachan bits are generally more expensive then Cadian ones. Not sure why, though

Not sure about the scout body though... even painted differently, it still resemble too much to a scout (don' know why ) IMO.

Maybe try using Scout legs instead and stick with the cadian torso. Those look pretty nice and you get cool gear directly on those legs.

The rest looks like an interesting idea. What's the background of those guys?

Scout bodies would need to be shaven down alot, just to make em fit in slightly.

Also, cadian torso+Catachan legs dont mix well because of belt issues.

You can read the story about my regiment in the fluff section, Aeonian Mettle. But basically, they come from a planet similar to Cadia, and so all of their population are soldiers, but it has extremely high gravity, and so everyone has enormous muscles (even females!) So I want to use the catachan arms. They're also city fighters, so the catachan lascarbines I think would fit better with the "Its a CQB" environment.
