Junior Officer- Iron Displine
Retinue- 2 melta guns, 2 flamers
4 units of 10 Guard- autocannons, grenade launchers
6 units of 10 guard- missile launcher, grenade launchers
20 Conscripts- flamers
This is my take on a gunline. Its probably pretty common, but I think it can be effective. The officers will hide in the back until the enemy surges forward where they counter with flamers and meltas. The vets and ratling will take up forward positions and put some heavy hitting on there most expensive troops. I dont expect the harden veterans to live past round 3, but it should be a great at drawing firepower. The lascannon batteries will target tanks while the rest of the firepower will be dedicated to hurting their scoring units. On turn 4-5 depending I will begin to surge forward with my troops to capture and contest objectives. The grenade launchers can be extremely pesky with their low strength pie plates.
The leman russ is there more for intimidation and to draw fire away from my regular squads.
The mortars should be great at hitting those targets hiding behind cover.
I gave myself the drop troops doctrine so that if it looks desirable I can drop half my squads via deepstrike. This might be useful but i'm hesitant to split my forces.
What improvements could I make to this list?
