Hey, was wondering what you guys think of the Daemon's Soul Grinder? My friend always takes 3 of em and they are redicuously powerful... Any thoughts/curses/strategies/tips on how not to end up stepping on it (my foot still hurts )/ and anything else that you can think of ;D

Honestly, just looking at it scares the living daylights out of me, and I'm glad I never had to fight one. All I can say is try taking two Bassies and a Demolisher. That should give you a lot of high powered shots to throw at it.

Ya, 1 is deadly enough, 3 by themselves can wipe a board clean... They have 36 inch non-ordinance battle cannons, 24 inch S10 Ap 1 weapons, 6 bolter shots, and a heavy flamer... which it can fire all on 1 turn

Then is sounds like range is it's big weakness. Try taking three basilisks and throwing that at him. Should drop at least one before they get to you, and massed gunfire should down the second.

Havn't fought em with the guard yet, not sure how my tanks will do... I've always fought em with Black Templars... and i usually assault cannoned em to death or blitzed em with 10 assault marines with meltabombs... Needless to say, they have usually needed waves after waves of hits to even kill em

I've only faced soul grinders with my chaos marines, but they don't seem so tough. I used a summoned greater daemon to down a few but there's no reason why a leman russ or something couldn't do the same. I would recommend tarpitting it, but IG don't really have good tarpits...
Or you could get really lucky with meltabombs a lot, though counting on luck is usually a really bad idea (or a really good one)!

Actually, they can only fire their 6-shot weapon and one Mawcannon shot. Mawcannon versions includes the anti-tank big blast, the template, and the other shot I can't remember. The Mawcannon works like a single weapon with three different versions, so it can only be fired once per turn like any normal weapon.

Shove a melta bomb up his butt, then walk away as his ass melts off his body.
No seriously, that was a jerk move. Don't let him get away with that again.

I played against a Daemon army. My friend and I were confused about it, then we looked it up. The rules state something along the lines of 'choose the type before you fire'. It seems to work like the Obliterator's multi-gun. If I'm wrong, forgive me. DL a torrent of the new Daemon 'dex and look it up yourself.
I DL all 'dexes just to get a feel for the armies. Then I buy the codex of the army I like and play it. Cuts down on army disappointment.

Hmm, I wouldn't consider it wrong, cause all it is looking at the different codexes before buying em. When's the last time you got yelled at a GW for reading their store codexes?
Back to main subject... ahem... I talked to my friend and showed him the codex *NOTE* (Did not actually show codex am going to but I was convincing enough) The codex mentions that you have to declare which mode you were firing with before you fired, so I think he gets it... He did mention a desire to mention all of the attacks one by one, but I informed him that if he did then I would be able to do the same with all my own weapons: Basilisk fires 2 shots: 1 direct, 1 indirect Missiles are krak and frag grenade launchers are krak and frag characters with PW and PF get 3 attacks of each hehe, I think he will listen to reason now

Good job for him that the Hellhound only has one firing mode....

it has been awhile since I saw my friend's deamon codex but i believe you can give the soulgrinder all of its weapon options, and pay out the nose for each in terms of points, but you may only fire one of each type per turn.
