I use foamcore. I hope it's the same name they call it here. It's the material architects use to make miniatures of the buildings they make plans of.
I buy it (sheet of 3 x 3 foot) at an art store.

My next project, after completion of my ''12 stories Imperial Organisation building'', will be a more damaged high stories building. But your comment just did inspire me to make another larger tank garage, but with open doors so we could see the tank bay for each open doors...

If you do the larger tank garage, put in pit bays in each bay, make shift trenches.
