you can have the best advice in the world and still mess it up but my advice is just be relaxed dont think about the outcome and dont mention 40k. and try the just listen to her thing dont try to impress her it rairly works. best of luck buddy

pffth whatever. get a rockstar energy drink or drink a whole pot of coffee so you're amped up and able to think and talk quicker - it helps you prevent uncomfortable gaps in the conversation cuz your mind is zooming along and you're already thinking about something interesting she'd said by the time she stops talking. ask questions. try to look at everything she says as words that contain questions you can ask her which will get her talking again - keep doing this. eventually you might run out of something to ask her about what she's talking about at which time you can say something about yourself to get her to talk again which you can analyze for things that you can ask her about and off you go again. when it's all over you'll know an aweful lot about her and you can use this to forge a friendship with her since you know alot of stuff other people don't - it makes you special and special is the first step try and use the things she tells you in the future in conversations and ask about the things she's told you (like how her grandma is or her dogs name etc) - remind her thru your questions in the future that you not only were making conversation but that it was important enough to you that you remembered what she was talking about good luck bud!

ah, the ol' distance gap.
I'm gonna say something that you probably don't want to hear but I think it's true.
there are billions of women on the planet which means that one who could be classified as 'the right one' is absolutely, without a doubt, in your town right now. I would consider finding her a higher priority than getting to know someone who looks cool. this is not saying at all that the girl you're a bit hung up on isn't the one for you, it's just putting things into perspective.
think of it this way. you've got a platoon of guardsmen on the table. 10" away is an objective. 24" away is a second objective. either objective could be the mission objective, but you don't know till you reach the objective and roll the die to see if it's the actual mission objective. what do you do?
if you said move to the objective that's 10" away then you should probably let this girl go for the moment because she's the objective that's 24" away. get to know the local girls (the objective that's 10" away) while keeping your eye on the objective that's 24" away (just cuz you're not going after the objective doesn't mean you arent getting closer to it!!).
does this make sense?
seek a friendship with the far away girl while you look for a local girlfriend. if the local girlfriend doesn't pan out then perhaps time will have shifted things favorably with this far away girl (like you've been saving money or she moves closer).

guys missing the point do not at any point before bagging the target mention 40k even if she pretends to understand. do talk about music chicks dig musicians (long as its guitars or drums or summfing rocky), do not mention anime or sci-fi of any kind. do talk about stuff like theatre/films (not sci-fi) stuff like that. remeber no girls like nerds so take up a exciting sport climbing/caving parachuting etc do not brag about afore mentioned sport just hint at it let them come to there own conclusions. distance is after all not a conceptuale excuse in the modern age its relative thanks to the net cheap flights. etc. best of luck bud "nil desporandum"

this hot girl I ran into was obviously turned on by the fact that she saw something writing utensil-like tucked up into my hat and asked to borrow my pen and I blinked and told her that it was one one of my paintbrushes - sorry! girls think guys who spend their time painting and doing art are hot I think. too many guys are falling into hobbies like warcraft that just promote couch potato, smelly degenerate-ness that 40k is actually rising in its cool factor (I know artists are on the rise due to the paintbrush incident ) you can talk about 40k like you're a geek or like you're a artist/hobbyist who spends his money putting together a rare collection of minis and painting them like a pro so that you can stand out amongst the elitest crowd of wargamers in the area. in my area, 40k isn't something to be shamed by, and seriously, you'd be suprised if you wore your "I'm a geeky d&d playing 40k dice throwing nerd" badge on your shoulders what amazingly HOT girls would wind up across the table or at the D&D battlemap with you (I speak from experience, at least on the D&D front, and trust me, D&D is far geekier than 40k ) my only point here is don't hide who you are, be proud of it because if you want a girl who plays 40k she'd probably like to know if you play or not!!! besides, if you have more hobbies to talk about then you have more to conversate on with her

Just remember rule no.1. Deodorant is not the same as antiperspirant! Wargamers are the smelliest people on earth. Clean your teeth, bathe and make sure you have closed the deal before you take her to your club to meet Hank the sweaty and slightly annoying orc player.
Also remember, girls out number boys 2-1 on World of Warcraft. It's not a guy thing to be geeky these days.
