35 quid for a Valk? Ok, s'about the same as a Land-raider.
15 quid for a Command squad. I was wondering if they'd do a single (and quite expensive) plastic model with options, but the price and description suggests a multi-model box.
Still surprised they aren't including the new stormies soon. And niggling things like, for example, some currently inconveient options should be made available ASAP. You should to be able to easily kit out troops with demo charges and shotguns, especially since a recent article in White Dwarf said this was supposed to be, and from now on, would be the case. Fingers crossed the new model range will end up representing every unit in the Codex in a way that won't involve the player having to either miss out, or spend muchos cashos for codex-standard stuff at Forgeworld.

Who told you it was just a single commander? That would make him cost wice as much as a space marine commander...

Someone said in the forums that it contains 20 Guardsmen, Command Squad, 3 Heavy Weapons teams and the new sentinel.

No ther Battleforce they put out has a command figure in it, so I really doubt that they will do so for us. The rest sound about right though. I'd trade the sents for a new tank kit in a heartbeat though. That would be an interesting way to generate sales. Release the new tank kits in battleforces only first, and then in a couple of months release the new kit seperately.

Well, 99.9% of guard players are going to buy tanks, that's a given, but sentinels are more a matter of preference. By replacing tanks with sentinels in the battleforce, it's pretty hard to make a viable guard army w/o buying something other than the battleforce. As it is now, gimme a battleforce and a 20 man box or two (we'll always need more troops than in the battleforce thanks to platoons ) and I've got a viable army & officers (just convert with tank commander head). Now I'll need all that plus a tank box. If you ask me, it was purely a business decision.

if it was 10 that would be super lame. To me it does't matter, I don't think it's a business choice and ai'd much rather have some heavy weapon teams to paint before tanks, gets all of the tedious painting out of the way.

...you get heavy weapons teams in the current battleforce.

Old One: - Same as below - Some ruins (terrain)
Current: - 20 shock troopers - 3 heavy weapon teams - Leman Russ Battle Tank
To be released: - Command squad (could be a platoon command squad! It's up to however is making the army) - 20 guardsmen (meaning we finally get one, single, full troops choice in the box...) - 3 heavy weapon teams (can hopefully be added to the troops platoon, but who knows) - a new sentinel (WITH PLASMA CANNOOOOONNNN!!! ;D)
So, we bascially get one single troops choice, and a sentinel

so for those people wanting to start IG for the first time the easiest way to do so would be to buy
2 battle forces 1 officer squad 1 leman russ(because we gotta have a tank!)
that'll come to about $250
55 men 6 heavy weapon teams 2 sentinals 1 tank
pretty good way to start things off right there.

One single troops choice? What does this mean?

A single troop choice on the Force Organization Chart. Most games require at least two troop choices and one HQ choice. The FOC is explained in better detail in both the rulebook and the guard codex. I don't want to say to much cause I don't want to infringe any copyrights.

@joh_Galt: my new apprentice here (if he ever shows up again ) was asking because he just stopped playing WHF and has only just begun his jounrney into 40k. @aiglos: you might know them as Core choices. We call them Troops in 40k

@ Aiglos: A choice on the FOC deploys as a single unit, regardless of how many squads are actually in it. For example, even though an Infantry Platoon can be anywhere from 3-6 squads in size, it is all deployed at the same time and only takes up one Troops choice. They don't need to be deployed all in the same spot, and they're separate squads that can act independently of each other, but it allows the Guard to field more squads of their grunts than, say, SMurfs.
I was in a similar situation when I switched over from Wood Elves to Guard a couple years back. Confused me like all hell at first, but I quickly figured it out and got used to it.
