I think it was first edition/rogue trader. Sentinels looked pretty weird, and the gun was in the middle, not on the side.

My oh my, what a lovely bunch of bits this is. I wish I had had one of these for the basing conversion I just did with an old Sentinel. Oh well... I can't wait to get my hands on one of these.

People, the Fast Attack section of our codex has definitely improved much with the Sentinel variations and price drop and the new vectored thrust aircraft entries(not to mention the multi-melta option for the hounds ). Sentinels in the previous codex had their uses; I mostly used them as anti-infantry & light armor(trukks, rhinos and such) and speed bumps and definitely never bought them armored compartments or equipped them with lascannons or HK's; Multilasers and A/C's only, they get too expensive for such fragile vehicles after this. The new codex is definitely gentler with our favourite walkers, with the scouts costing only 35 with Scout, Move through Cover and multilasers and only 5 more points for A/C or heavy flamer; Most definitely a great option for outflanking, ranged harrying or anti-light armor work. It saddens me to say that the sentinel still sucks at it's anti-armor role; never give them anything firing just once, it's wasted points(really sad considering how cool the Armagedon pattern looks...), certainly not HK's. The armoured sentinel is great with it being enclosed and 12 front armour, but it's still BS3 and won't do any good job with a single fire weapon per turn. Also consider that 2 Armoured sentinels with lascannons in the same squadron cost 140pts(70 each). For the exact same price you can get a Vendetta; A fast skimmer gunship transport with 12 armor in front and sides and 3 twin-linked lascannons, not to mention the heavy bolter upgrade which is also in the price for some extra anti-infantry firepower. I'm sure you'll agree it's a much more efficient tank killer with it's mobility, armor, near-sure hitting weapons and most importantly, maneuverability(and maybe a properly equipped veteran team inside . Armored sentinels with Plasma cannons are another matter, especially against MEQ's. A squadron of these devils will probably make Marine players sweat a bit, especially when properly placed. Careful though, as a full squadron costs 225pts, only 5pts less than an Executioner with plasma cannon side sponsors...
